anyone know when this race is likely to be full up? would like to enter, but a bit far in advance for me, not sure of plans for this summer
Sent my entry off, can we have a useable technical t shirt for that price? the last two are still in my drawer.
Really enjoyable day out, well worth the drive up.
I'm thinking that the price tag is fair value even though it's still quite a lot. I guess it's to be expected for such a big event and associated co-ordination.
I registered on the site and put my entry in the post,
Done this route before but never the race, so looking forward to it,
It's a fine race and attracts lots of top Italian athletes, who are seriously good at downhill. I did it in 1981 and then in 2002. The big change over those years is the engineering of the path, which resembles something of a motorway in places. There's alot of vertically placed slabs to drain water off and it's easy to take a stumble on the way down when you're tired and your eyes are watering.
sent off entry form . apart from cheque being cashed , how are you notified to say whether your in or not ?
I think the race organisers are emailing people end of the week
there should be a list on the website beginning of next week. I'll post when its up
The Junior races... is it age on day of the race or age 1.01.2010?
sent me cheque off , just waiting to find out,
really want to have a crack at this one,
I believe the entries are now closed.
SJ
entries officially closed. List should be on web on monday. Good luck
To all you Juniors out there - i'll hassle the committee (i'm not on the committee - just helping out with the website) to get some info for you guys posted on the website
Hi guys,
Apologies if this is the wrong place to post. I am contemplating running this race at some point in the future but have a couple of questions I was hoping somebody out there could kindly answer...
1. As an International event this obviously attracts a class of runner way, way above my level and I was wondering if there is a similar event for the 'less gifted' amongst us? (the reason I ask is that I would not like to take up a place that would be better utilized by somebody more capable)
2. If yes, when?
3. If not, are all runners in the race elite or are would I not look completely out of place? (I have no problem with coming last as long as I'm not that far behind :O) )
4. Are there any races that you would recommend that qualify as the required "class 'a' mountain race" - I live in Lincolnshire!
I have ran on the mountains when I was younger (lived in Bangor then) but not since, although I have kept my hand in X-counrtry/trail running. I appreciate this is an extensive list and any replies would be most welcome.
Many thanks in advance,
RWMS
1. The race limit is 500, the international field is probably around 10% of that. So you get all standards, just like any other race.
2. Loads of other races, Cader Idris, Moelwyns, Moel Eilio; but Snowdon is a good choice if you have no nav ability because its just a massive track up and down.
3. see 1. Look at the results on the site too.
4. Go to the Peak, you aren't far from the SOuth Peak, Roaches, that sort of area.
Hi all
At this stage, those runners that entered their details online can view their entry status online at www.snowdonrace.co.uk
Simply login with your username and password (bottom of each page). If you entered your details online but cannot login, please contact me at [email protected] (there were a few that had started to enter details but the process wasn't completed - don't worry though - as entry was based purely on receipt of the mailed entry form with payment). Those that did not enter details online may have to wait a few days while your details are being typed into the the database from your snail-mail posted forms. Everyone who has been successful will be notified by email by the end of the week.
There will be a reserve list, so don't worry if you didn't get in, you still have a chance. A list of runners that are on the reserve list will be available soon.
cheers
Sarah
YYYyyyyyyyeeeeeessss

Fantastico - Im in :-)
:D
Me too!:D
I'm in ~ fingers crossed for Coniston now.
Trip to Beris coming up:D
Is anyone going from Manchester area or passing any junctions nearby that I could grab a lift off. Not bothered if its on the day or the night before as I will book a room in the hostel if needs be
See you there John! Plenty of firewood round those parts i'm told :p
Juniors? When is the age taken from? first of January or day of race?
Should I know if I am in yet?
Starting to get a little worried that my entry went astray.
You can log onto web site and view a list of runners that have got in. I've just had a look and can't see Weetabit power on the list :D If you have problems getting on then PM me your name and I'll have a look for you (Save Skippy having to do it):)
Nice one nightingale
If you look for Stephen Smithies then that would be
I didn't register though!
Cheers
I'm sorry to have to be the one to break this to you mate. I've just looked and can't see your name :(
There isn't any one on the reserves list though. Maybe you could send an email to the organiser and see if they will put you on that ? I take it your cheque didn't get cashed ?
Perhaps, Philip Jones [email protected] ?
Fek:(
Was really organised too, sent cheque off on 1st March! Must have sent it to Coniston in error?
Thanks for looking.
The word is ,World Mountain running champion K Wilson Chemweno from Kenya is going to run the Snowdon race this year.
this should be very interesting,if he can`t beat the record, then who is capable of doing so?his down fall might most probably be the descent.if he can get down in 22 min he should be in with a shout.if the record isnt broken then this one has taken on all comers and been triumphant(respect) only Mark Kinch has gotten close to it with a sud 63min even the great De Gasperi has`nt touched that.
what ever the outcome, should be one of the best quality fields that Snowdon has seen in years.
i wish i was`nt running now
i agree that his descending ability wont match that of KS but his ascent might be a sub 39 min which gives him a tolerance of a sub 24 min to get down(even i was capable of that at one time)you got to remember that the descent of snowdon still requires a lot of running, its only the first half of the descent that requires any pure fell running skills
