First redpoll of this winter on the birdfeeder a couple of minutes ago. Still looking out for the first reed bunting in the garden - they usually start coming to the bird table about now.
Dead barn owl. Near Gradbach youth hostel near the Roaches.
Poor thing. Bizarrely, it was just next to an empty bottle of rum left in a dry-stone wall, presumably by some youths staying at the hostel. It looked like the owl had drunk itself to death.
I've yet to see a live one!! they obviously have a hard time of it on the roads poor sods:thunbdown: the rock star of the animal world, Live fast, die young and leave a beautiful corpse.Quote:

I was lucky enough to watch squirrels feeding up in the Cairngorms this weekend, and saw my first crested tits. A few photos of the squirrels on my blog - photo quality quite poor as they were taken on my phone.
