Sadly I came across a dead Badger on Fanshaw Gate Lane right outside the Hall; Badger -v- car not a good outcome, such a waste of a beautiful animal.

First redpoll of this winter on the birdfeeder a couple of minutes ago. Still looking out for the first reed bunting in the garden - they usually start coming to the bird table about now.
Dead barn owl. Near Gradbach youth hostel near the Roaches.
Poor thing. Bizarrely, it was just next to an empty bottle of rum left in a dry-stone wall, presumably by some youths staying at the hostel. It looked like the owl had drunk itself to death.
A peacock butterfly up on the moors, sunning itself on a south facing bank. I wished it a Happy Cristmas and suggested it go to bed for the winter.
I like this thread. I always read it.
I was lucky enough to watch squirrels feeding up in the Cairngorms this weekend, and saw my first crested tits. A few photos of the squirrels on my blog - photo quality quite poor as they were taken on my phone.

Two red kites hovering and doing that clever thing they do with their tails just above the petrol station on the A61 going into Harrogate. I know they are quite common now but I almost missed the traffic light changing due to marvelling at them.
