IDP, how'd you managed 90 ft of ascent at Hornsea?
You climb the cliffs 10 times? :D
Saturday did 9k in Notts cross country champs and today did Rhyd ddu Trumy D#Ygarn down throgh trees to road.Up Craig Wen, yr Aran and Snowdon. 5 hrs good snow on Snowdon.
You stick to the coast road or do the paths?
If its still the same as it used to be, opposite the pub at atwick theres a road goes over to the cliffs. On that you can take a left, off road, that runs about 100m parallel to the cliff. I think they were widening it for access to the gas pipes (?) You can work your way along the cliff tops themselves through low skirlington, Far Grange and on to Skipsea.
(we had a van at LS for about 15 years, when i was a kid)
yesterday 5k parkrun, albert park m'boro 16:50 Today Brass mmonkey half marathon, york 118 :( legs are hanging off tonight, need more long runs:eek:
Is this our own thread:o
The road and track are still there and more caravan parks:rolleyes:
Inlaws worked in Skirlington campsite for a number of years MIL ran Pool and FIL managed retaurant. I stick to roads as there is less dog dirt about. No traffic at this time of year, it'll be 3-4 months before the "comforts" turn up
??? miles from home to Derwent Fairholmes and back by bus. Hard work at times with rucsac filled with all the requirements for a piggin afternoon out. Knee deep sugary snow, a crotch deep bogmonster, and a man with a GPS who stopped to ask me directions were among the many entertainments out there today.
Just been round my local training route.
Could feel the 20 miles in my legs from saturday, but persevered to put in a respectable time.
EDIT - 7 miles my local training route. Just check on Mapmyrun
B'day treat on a dreary Monday - 3 1/2 hrs playing out. :D
Meandering route based on Crowden loop with variations and a bit o' Lads Leap at the end. Unsurprisingly no other bug*er out and the fresh dusting of snow made the icy PW (what you can see of it) much better underfoot. Temp at start/finish was 0 degrees, just me and the grouse up there.
Back to road bashing in the dark, a steady 6 with 900ft climb, still have a sore stomach after a hard weekend.
Jason
missed you at tonight race Jan, will buy you a beer next time I see you.
race night tonight and it was one of the harder ones, lack of climbing and race pace showed but still managed a creditable 3rd
6.1 miles with 900ft ascent in 41.34 a full 1.30 behind my pb for this course.
Also running tonight was PaulE
Unpack at hotel to find I've left me trainers at home() so confined to the hotel gym all week in me casual trainers. Shame, as there's a lovely route along the Avon under Clifton Bridge and beyond I like to do when in Brizzle:(.
Late into hotel, so just a quickie:
20min interval sesh on the treadmill on max incline to warm up
47 full burpees (restart of the burpee challenge)
27 pull ups (restart of the pull up challenge)
100 ab crunches (broken into 5 sets of varying exercises)
Pyramid bench press sesh
Long stretch session
22km on the bike on the road. Sounds naff but furthest training on a bike for way too long....
I did the same race as Ian, but was 3 minutes slower.... pretty happy with that seing as I'd had a cold at the weekend - think I'd have been fairly happy with sub45min even without the cold.
Ian and Paul i just can't seem to pluck up the courage to go on a dark peak session or race even though i am a member because every time i read anything about the club and it's members it's saying how fast they are and what records they've got. Don't get me wrong i am proud to be a member of such a successful club even though i have nothing to do with the success it is just that i find it very intimidating. Now that might be my bipolar accentuating my feelings but it is how i feel even though i am sure everyone is very friendly. Oh and i have been up around the first half of Edale Skyline today.
First in the gym for a quick total body circuit this morning.
They aren't all whippets. large range of abilities as in any big club. Try a monday night race, very informal, just turn up and set off when you want slowest first and self time, there can be 15 minutes between the slowest and fastest setting off! Bring a map of route though as like last night the fog can hide the turnings if you don't know them.
Until you try you'll never know.
What do you think Paul, you were a monday night newbie a few weeks ago
Ian
Dont worry about it try-mind - I turn up sometimes (not last night-not feeling well and want to do Higger on Sunday :o ) Im not a DP member and I have to set off earlier than everybody  Its very informal like IDP says. It makes me feel abit "inferior" too somtimes but I just get on with it. Someone has to be at the back to make the front ones feel smug :p
4 hard miles on the hard road of hard 20:20 Fartlek .
Usual 7 mile fell run.
I'd agree with that - I'd never even run on the road until a couple of months ago, and every one was friendly.... even bought me a beer on the 2nd outing!
Don't worry about the speed thing, that had me intimidated too but then I turned out to be smack in the middle of the group. It's just that the fastest ones shout the loudest ;)

You know the drill etc :D
Ok in order....
Well you do have 4 small legs to work with. but being a woman you can handle that many;)
That said I don't think many work as hard as you on the hill rep days. One tough cookie.
Still recovering but it's coming...
That can't be me then I'm so quiet and unassuming;)
Well Marvin and myself went from the Top of Woodhead pass over roundhill and picked up the HPM route which we ran/walked/waded/climbed along as far as Wainstones, We returned via the Boulton Wreck at White stones and the Tea plant near the 1894 stone. Still some serious snow about. I'll post some pics later on the HPM thread.
We appeared to be in the middle of a big cloud hole today what ever direction we looked had thick cloud where we had blue sky above. 12.6 miles Longest day out since Tanky's but you could call it a run as we were out for nearly 5 hours
Yes, a very pleasant day out IDP. As you say, there was some serious snow still - groughs full to the top, snow crisp enough to take your weight some of the time. If only the snow had been a bit crisper, it would have been very easy running up there for a change.
Steady 5 on trails this morning, it is getting lighter!!!
Then 6 speed sess this evening.
Feeling good
Jason
5miles on road around Hounslow West London.......aaargh:(
I think my Mudclaws did look a bit out of place, though lots of broken paving slabs reminded me of the summit of Bowfell:D
Gym again tonight. Seriously regretting not bringing my trainers. Nice night for a run.:(
Anyway:
Warm up by another interval sesh on treadmill on max incline
47 Handclap press-ups (10/10/10/10/7). As last night with the burpees, ended with a comical collapse, this time on me face.:o:D
Various bi/tri exercises
Ended with some remedial anti-ITB stretches/exercises
Fairly easy sesh all told. Heavy one tomorrow with day 2 of the challenges and more work on the big muscle groups. Won't be walking properly at the end of the week. Love it!
Quite tired, so not sure about hitting the gym tomorrow morning as well. Might just have another 90mins in bed!;)
Little bit of a trot around Heaton Park... beats running on tarmac and quite a bit closer than Holcombe Hill (important until I get a permanent job).
Easy plod on usual trail 5, Wooldale to Hade Edge and back. Misty, breezey and very cold again. Been out for a lot of shorter runs lately around commitments, feeling tired but moving well. Must go long this weekend though not sure what.
Inspiration near Holmfirth gladly accepted, hopefully with not too much snow as I would like to run. :o
Jason
Easy 5m over moors from pocketrocket106's house, her dad's just gone in for a knee op and i drove his Bongo back from Bingley for him. Speedy recovery to him and don't forget to pick him up Stagger;)
A little cracker last night and a good accompanying tale
http://turbotom-hillsfieldsandthrills.blogspot.com/
2 easy road miles this am. Nearly got into a fight with a cyclist who tried to run me down. Had no concept of 'give way to pedestrians' on a shared footpath. Bloody 'nana.
10 miles around Baildon Moors, Spring Woods etc. Very cold (buff pulled reet up, terrorist stylee), windy, misty & drizzly.
Bring on The Rombalds.
Last night was tuesday hill reps.
I confinced a mate to come along, who also convinced a mate to come along.
I did 12 reps in total - they did every other one with me - but for some reason my garmin told me i did less climbing that last week even though i did 1 rep more.
Really chuffed i got those two to come with me, they must have enjoyed the torture because they asked when we're going again! RESULT!:D
Give it a few months and they'll be running in the lakes with me.:D
