Rob's time is down on last year, and year before - Tom C as well so looks like conditions were a little tougher.
Hi Pinno - never saw you up there, cheers for the pics, good shot of me trying to close down Pudgy.
I can just see me in the background on one of your photos.
Nowhere near Ady and Pudgy.:D
It was the first time I'd run it and I must admit I had been a bit dubious about doing the Rivington Pike race because I thought it would be a poor imitation of a fell race. But I loved it and I'm looking forward to next year.
You run from the town, up the road, and then up the hill and back down again. I thought it was fantastic. It's good with the people cheering you on along the route too because it makes for a good atmosphere.
Interesting post that Chris.
Ive always held much the same opinion as yourself. Ive never run it either, just goes to show that you've got to try it for yourself. I think i will have a go next year now.
As a caveat to that good friend of mine (David-how are you sir?:)) once told me that he thought the start of the Ashurst Beacon race, being downhill for about a mile on the tarmac was quite hard on the legs. This was one of the reasons he didnt like it.
I ran it once and my legs were shredded for days afterwards, i honestly didnt enjoy the race at all-but other people will love it. You have to have a go before you can comment eh?:)
