Be honest. You don't want the thought of Tanky's to spoil a discount beer drinking opportunity at the Pennine Xmas dinner the night before!!;)
I now have to decide which of - Pennine Handicap Saturday, Pennine Dinner Sat night, Gritstone Club Xmas Party weekend in Dales and Tanky's Sunday - I can / want to do most.

Ok, you've got me there. It was the call of the beer.
There were a few people on Kinder last night not impressed that Dave had moved the dinner to Saturday night!

No contest Richard:
1 year = 364 beer drinking opportunities + 1 Tanky's Trog.
[And looking at the start list it looks like it's going to be mad and breezy yet again ]

Re: Tanky's Trog 2009 is on!!
can anyone give me an idea of how easy it would be to get the start of this race on public transport - and whether there's a YHA or something near the finish?
(local waterstones hasn't got the relevant OS map ...)

Where you coming from Zoot?
Carshare will be a better option.
I don't know about YH but there are B&Bs about.
the Huddersfield-Manchester rail line goes passed and the station is only 200m from registration but what trains will be about at that time I don't know.
If you don't fancy CS then get up there the night before, there's always someone(A N Formomite) to take your bag to the finish.
walking there the day befor fom Edale is an option and has been been done before. Plumbum once ran to the start through the night (Respect) from Edale to get there just in time for a bacon buttie before racing back

Edale Youth Hostel is a short stroll from the finish.

Re: Tanky's Trog 2009 is on!!
Looking forward to seeing my old mates Dave Rennie and the ever popular Howard Chambers at the start line in December.
-
Re: Tanky's Trog 2009 is on!!
I'm not sure about ever popular ;-) but will be great to see an ever growing number of Leicestershire socialites at the Trog again.

Just been for a plod over Blackhill. Very muddy and tussocky on the way down and just where did that new bog come from? waist deep:o!! Shocking:eek:
the stile that Plumbum and I built last year to take you over the first fence after Soldiers Lump is now gone:eek: but so is the fence so thats ok . Must admit it threw me for a minute cos I knew I was on the right line.
saw a few muclaw/walsh tracks so recceing has started.

Not a couple;) may be one or two more.:D
yes we encourage all runners to have a pint at the finish as they provide the finishing area and power for the computers FOC.
Changing and refreshments are in the village hall 2 minutes walk(if you can manage it) away. Prize giving will also be there.
Pub afterwards
Don't forget that all competitors who finish get a bottle of Rescue Ale to savour in the bath later.:D
there will also be cases to aquire through donation;)

Was on Bleaklow yesterday - didn't see anyone else, but there were a few prints about too - not too bad underfoot tho' - we tried a different way from the stile to the snake - which I will NOT be doing on the day :(
