Pray for rain.
I think it's fair to say Australia deserved it.
As a side note, I was interested to hear Andrew Flintoff talking about the ball tampering affair. He said the bowlers must have known the ball was being tampered with. His words were something along the lines of "you know if you're Mitchell Starc you're not suddenly going to turn into Wasim Akram" - which I took to mean that bowlers who never normally get reverse swing but then miraculously develop the ability must know something's going on.
Anyway, that's not sour grapes. Well done to Australia - winning an ashes series away from home is a great achievement.
Cheater Smith has been the difference.
The best team won.
Be interesting to see if we give others a chance in the last meaningless game or stick with this group of under achievers.
Definition of a idiots!
Pick the same team.
Sir Geoffrey Boycott
You are Stagger? I always suspected that was the case 😏
I expect he'll insist Aggers uses his full title in the commentary box.
He deserves it for his cricketing achievements. It always seemed strange to me that he hadn't got it at the end of his career - his stats are astonishing. I can only think it's because he's so disagreeable and outspoken.
The reason he didn't receive it earlier is probably because he was convicted in a French court in 1998 of hitting his girlfriend. There has been some criticism today about the award of his knighthood because of this.
However Boycott has always maintained his innocence and an investigation by the Telegraph a few years ago suggested he might have been wrongly convicted.

Are non-white people and/or women disproportionately given knighthoods? I wasn't aware of such a trend.
And MR: I was aware of the conviction, but this came a while after he had retired. I'm just looking back at his career on Wikipedia to see when would have been a good time to do it, but I note in the same year that he became England's leading run scorer, he was also involved in organising the rebel SA tour, so perhaps this also went against him. He also kept playing until he was about a hundred, whereas sometimes sportspeople are acknowledged when they retire.
You could be right that it's something to do with the rebel tour but I still think the conviction is the more likely explanation. It's not unusual for sportspeople to get their awards a fair while after their playing careers have finished. Botham retired from first class cricket in 1993 but didn't get his knighthood until 2007.
Boycott's knighthood owes a lot to Theresa May's interest in cricket and her admiration for Boycott in particular. The last cricket nut PM was John Major. His honours list will have been in 1997. I suspect Boycott would have been on that list if it hadn't been for the investigation into the alleged assault at the time.
Also, Boycott sometimes comes over as a "professional Yorkshireman", which won't go down well in some quarters.

Mmmh. But then Wiggins got his before he had warmed down from winning one Tour - propped up by Froome* - and never did another one, and poor Froome who has won four of the things...?
* The Official Encyclopaedia of the Yellow Jersey (L'Equipe) by Bouvet and Galametz suggests (page 47) that in 2012 Froome was "perhaps already riding faster than his team leader" (Wiggins). And perhaps "perhaps" is in there to avoid an accusation of libel.:D
Didn't know you were a Froomie fan Graham?
Sir Geoffrey Boycott on top form today.
He's ruffled a few snowflake feathers with "I don't give a toss about her,love"
More evidence of why his Knighthood took so long.
Love it.
Sad news.

Hadn't realised he was ill as he was still part of Sky's coverage this summer. Will always be remembered (along with Botham) for Headingley 81.
Stokes wins spoty🤔
I bet the bloke he knocked spark out in Bristol, and got away with it, is cock-a-hoop!
SA are asked to follow on and are 2 down for 60 runs. Still over 200 runs behind.
Could I predict an England win if the weather holds?
Well predicted Stagger. 2-1 up with one to play. The team still looks pretty ropey to me, but they're doing some things right.
!st Test v West Indies starts today behind closed doors.
Interesting to hear Brian Lara's thoughts that the West Indies, if they are to win, have to do it in 4 days as they will not last 5 days which implies that they are not fit enough.
Imagine the furore there would be if Geoff Boycott, Ian Botham or Phil Tufnell suggested such a thing.
It's probably true though!
Day 5 and I would have WI as firm favourites.
If England can get even a further say 10 or 15 runs AND then bowl well I fancy them. Must say it’s been a great test so far all considered
WI need 200 to win. Early swing for Anderson. Going to be a really good final day whatever happens
7 for 2
Good start although most teams have a bit of fight and don't throw wickets away.
66 for 3. Balanced
Just about over
Done and dusted.
1 down in a 3 match series.
Should anyone get the push or are we happy with this shower?
From Henry Moeran on that Twitter:
Rather than focussing on toss/selectors/performance, shall we just acknowledge that was a proper Test match between two good teams?
And after the last few months isn’t that a great thing?
Spot on as far as I’m concerned
I thought the plan is for Root to be back on Thursday
What a numpty Archer is.
Really put the team 1st
Poor to say only 82 overs bowled.
200 runs scored.
Hardly good cricket.
Draw for old trafford.
1 - 0 down with one to play.
Well well well.
1 - 1 as England beat them by 113 runs.
Next match is at the same venue so hopefully same result.
