Not doing it this year :(
Good friend is getting married the day before, so a hard combo, I'd never make the start line on time AND I am already taking 4 days off work earlier in the month for the Kielder 100... I can only take one or two weekends off a year, so it is a hard call...
All do Helwith Bridge Duathlon instead! Same pub venue, just all on the road instead!
How are we all doing for the 3 Peaks cx then? I've been putting the hours in and I'm at the stage of last few efforts and then try to stay uninjured and well. Mtb race on Sunday and then Mary Towneley Loop challenge the following Sunday - possibly on cross bike, more likely on SS - and then taper. Bring it on!

The ruts were especially sneaky this year. I had a couple of crashes on Ingleborough that put me off my stride a bit, exactly 26" diameter - evil things!

3 Peaks CX to be scrapped after this year!

han is there camping before this event in 2014
Im learning of someone at the moment who has done this several times and got a best time of under 2.45 so hopefully i should have good race
this is providing I get 1 of the few places
That time is somewhat outdated - maybe Eric Stone in '79 or 77?
There's been several course changes since then, each time it gets longer.
The current course has been in use since 1994. Jebbie holds the record at 2.52.22 from 2008.
Google "3peakscyclocross", look at "Results" and scroll down to "Roll of Honour".
Perhaps, more importantly, look at the map of the current course; rather than what your mate might be showing
you from way back.
thanks for the info wheeze by doing quick search found lad , time and place
my fault as I could,nt remember the exact time he said and not looking at previous results
which is slightly wrong according to results I found and the times I got told
maybe this is down to the speed he has clocked me at on cx bike (not very fast)
Anyone having a ride round this time?
Aye, i'll be there, can't wait for it.
As per usual i'm yet to point the CX bike downhill this year, and there are a dozen outstanding repairs to be done, but wouldn't miss it for the world.
Any results yet??
How did Tim Gould place, he was supposed to have been riding this year, as a 'V50'
Well, that's put me in my place...........
I was convinced it was today, & never even looked at the date on the website
Forummers, I apologise for my mistake
Still, on the bright side, I hadn't entered it, & shown up;)
anyone else staring this in the face - ulp (last time for me was 50th anniversary and a monsoon 2012)
just hope its a bit drier
edit to add: and that i get a bit nearer to my target 5hours!
hi thanks mr brightside! i am become more of a cyclist than a fellrunner these days - but also had a second sproglet - so activity was a bit curtailed! Now a 2(and three quarters)year old and a 1 yr old - so activity (of the my chosen sports variety) still somewhat curtailed! Got quite into my road biking - don't know what makes me do the 3 peaks as i end up running round the most minor of technicalities!
Aye, good to hear from you ratty. We had a walk round on Saturday and it's bone dry (even dusty in places). Have a good ride!
Dusty! Sounds promising - 'ello tup!
