Re: Edale Skyline 29th March 2
I ordered one straight after reading your post - reccying opportunities will be limited - and I've received the map already.
Very nice work - I haven't had a detailled look but very impressed with the fast delivery and it certainly looks good.
Thanks!

The Skyline is now full.

Re: Edale Skyline 29th March 2
I vaguely remember that last year, the kit requirement was downgraded on the day, from 'waterproof' to 'windproof', because of the settled good weather.
I don't want to start one of those tedious mandatory equipment threads (especially since i remember you lot getting all that cr@p last year!) but i just wondered if that might happen this year?
Will it be worth bringing the pertex top as well, just in case??

Edale Skyline 29th March
Recced the route on Saturday and despite having done this race 3 times before (1: fog, 2: blizzard, 3: Followed the local vest), I am still not sure of the best line from Jacob's Ladder to Grindslow Knoll.
Big question though, is who's tempted to try the down and up from Grindslow to Ringing Roger? :)

Unless your initials are LT don't even consider it.;)
Its quicker running round for the mere mortials:eek:

I know its do-able, it is the time factor and the 17 previous miles that need consideration.;)

It kind of looks tempting when you stand and look back at Grindslow from RR as it feels like a long way round the skyline, but it's also a bleeding long way down (and up!) It'd take some bottle to do it on race day - I didn't even want to try it during a nice pleasant day out recceing. :o

another thing to consider is what you will have left in your legs for the rocky descent to the finish. I think my would be somewhere between jelly and cramp!

Re: Edale Skyline 29th March 2
I wont be running now,It being two of my mates birthday's I've decided to have a shabby weekend of booze instead
-
Re: Edale Skyline 29th March 2
Had a trot around the route yesterday - it was fantastic! Thick fog and 3deg. when I left Edale, within 10 minutes of the climb towards Ringing Roger I broke out of the cloud into beautiful warm sunshine. In and out of the cloud then until Rushup Edge when it cleared completely.

Disagree. I'm with Balin, it must be pretty upsetting if you can't get entry to an over-subscribed race only to hear that someone with an entry is givin it a miss to go out on the lash with thier mates.
I'd say the best thing is, if that is going to be your reason for not doing the race then don't broadcast it on here cos it's bound to get folks back up.
