Todays training consisted of cycling down to the local playing fields with my 10 year old son & then playing football-rugby(anything goes). He kicked my dodgy ankle on numerous occasions to test it out for me prior to the Blubberhouses Moor 25 tomorrow. Thanks son. ;)
Beamsley Beacon from home and back plus three extra climbs to make c7.5ml / 2300ft
Cold wind on top. Blubberhouses runners tomorrow should consider gloves and perhaps a Buff ;)
Strong 16 miles from home, into the PD and back. Some decent ascent. :) Rollocking from Mrs SimGreen78 as I had made us late for our walk :o
Calves REALLY burning afterwards.
Cheers DT, got my new Ilkley Harriers buff out ready !!;)
What's this? Club strip at a LDWA event? We'll be wearing race numbers next.
Oh yes ! I wore my Harriers vest with pride at the Trollers Trot !! Nowt wrong with that..........is there ?:o
Nice one Dt, see you 'ont tops !

8 miles this morning on the concrete - saw some cows in a field and a few cars.
Sunday: Epic 17.8 miler, with some nice hill work. (approx 891 metres climbed) felt very tired for the rest of the day.
Sunday 28th
10 miles road hilly.
Can a race count as training?
My family were all involved in the fun run at Lilleshall yesterday, organised by Newport and District Running Club, so I skipped the Wrekin race and did the "Monumental" 10k, which visited the monument and trig point on top of Lilleshall Hill in the last kilometre.
It's reassuring to find that the bit of the race where I performed best compared with those around me in the field was the hilly bit at the end - I overtook four on the way up the hill, five on the way down and two in the finishing field. :)
Anyway 57 minutes something for a 10k is a PR, and after 10 miles on Friday and over a moderately muddy and quite hilly (for a flat race!) course I'm pretty satisfied with the improvement.
Exe to Axe next weekend - I'm now wondering whether pre-entering that was very sensible!!!
Cheers all
Jim
First day of summer, warm balmy day in the lakes yesterday:cool::rolleyes:
Rain, Hail, gales, a bit of fresh snow on scafell and clag. Bloody cold at times.
wet slippy rock everywhere:(
From Langdale to Greenup edge then followed OCT route to finish.
20 miles, 7,000ft
Resting and drinking did me well over the weekend, flew round my loop this morning, in unfavourable conditions, and posted a time, just short of my fastest dry time :)
Recovery run, following yesterdays Blubberhouses Moor 25, over Baildon Moor with the missus. A nice steady 4 miles which loosened the legs nicely.
Up in the Lakes on Saturday... from ODG up Crinkle Crags by Red Tarn, then over Bowfell and Esk Pike to Esk Hause, up Scafell Pike and back to ODG via Esk Hause and Rosset Gill. Weather not too bad, bit of clag on the tops and tricky underfoot at times. There's a full write-up on my blog in my signature.
14miles (ish) / 5000ft (ish)
2 mile steady run out.
4 x 1/2 mile reps.
2 mile warm down back.
Squats tonight .....
5m + 1000' to Top of Pike. Was planning to go a bit further but the clag was down.... oh and I felt knackered as well :D
monday 29th March
1hr 15 mins steady cycle in rain
2 hours next to fire trying to warm up again.
Something around Hardknott Roman Fort. Taking my wife and children to Eskdale Youth Hostel for 2 nights. Looks like we're going to get soaked.
love it round there - I always think what a wild and intimidating place it must have seeemd to your average legionnaire from Tuscany.
And it's a truly fantastic walk up the Esk Valley to Cam Spout and from there over Scafell to Wasdale. Although last year we got beaten by some truly terrible weather, and then managed to get quite scarily lost trying to contour round the south-western flanks of Scafell.
Ended up back at the Woolpack Inn when we were meant to be overnighting in Wasdale ...
16 mile on the roads yesterday from Sefton Park back to Cronton via Hale. I have followed that by 12.81 mile on the Ashurst Beacon and Parbold hill race routes back to back with Sinatra early this morning.
Recce of Lake, Ridge and Wainwright LDWA event. 24ml / 7300ft
Nice fast seven mile bash through Fulwood, Lodge Moor and around the Porter Valley.:) Final third even faster due to sudden onset of stomach bug.:(
Bit nippy on the tops in shorts today
Usual 5m run up to Top of Pike today which was covered in snow today :)

Hangs head in shame:o
Ran in the South Yorks Road League
5 miles Exactly (there was chalk on the road to prove it!!) in a strong cold wind in 29.30 from Oxspring (Trunce country)
top 20 but thats all I could tell you.
Sorry to hear mate :(
I'm with hursty on this. Nearly as bad as that bicycling machine you had last year Ian :p What's next, step aerobics? :D
