5 steady off road was going to be ten but very tired.
Interesting, took 3 days off tueday to thursday, and just did modertate Hill walking instead of running, went out running round my usual training loop was super strong, very fast and less fatigue. :)
I've been planning some thing special in the peak recently and given i couldn't make it to Scotland or the lakes I decided to have a bash at it.
Needless to say there was lots of snow at times over heather. strong winds, rain sleet, and very very muddy making the going quite tough.
Took a prospective BGer with me for training;)(He's a lurker)I think I probably would have made it solo but It was just a long training run for us both so i'll chalk it down to a recce. a couple of weeks and the full route will go hopefully
a good 9.00 hour trip and got back to the car very cold and wet.
30.1 mile 7,100ft mainly open moor with the odd track/trod/path
wil do a few miles on road bike today, loosen my legs up after calder valley.
Ran from Hucks Bridge on the A6 (nr Shap) along the ridge to Whinfell Beacon the reversed.
Didnt see a single soul....Fantastic especially as its Easter weekend and the Lakes are chocker.:D
First skylarks Ive heard this year.

Outstanding run today, up Margery Hill and High Stones from Bar Dyke. Couple of miles on a trail to get started, then about 5ish across the open moors to take in the 2 summits and then last 2 1/2 back on the dukes road as a warm down. route was about 10 miles, 900 feet climbing, but I forgot the GPS logger so they are gueses based on Grough route.
Pretty biggy underfoot, went up to my thigh once or twice, but more runnable than I expected. Couldn't believe the number of hare I saw, must have been a dozen at least plus a few curlews and many grouse. Set out with a sore knee and stiff back so a little worried, but all is good!
The entire Malvern range from Chase end to End hill... and back again.
A bit of a killer.
19 miles, 1676metres up, 1336 metres down. 5hrs 10min (ish)
Stupidly thought that it would only take three and a half hours so ran with a handful of jelly babies and some fig rolls, luckily decided at last minute to Nuun the water otherwise I think I'd have felt a bit worse than I do now.
Ran the out quite well, walked a few of the peaks, the back was okay until Hereford Beacon then I fell apart...
Anyway, made it back but had to walk all of the last four.
When are you going out on Monday Ian? Think I'm at the inlaws for lunch, so it's have to be early evening for me.
Full three peaks course solo (taking permissive route to L of race route on W) - 4.55. Made Hill Inn at 3.15 at steady pace then just ran out of steam gradually jogging, walking, crawling down Ingleborough. Nearly threw up at one point near the end which is something I have never done. Hope I am not coming down with something.
Snow on PG, hailstones on IB very muddy throughout.
A trott up West Nab & back along the water courses back to Slawit. A shade under six miles, a shade under fifty minutes.
Mirehouse to Skidda over Carlside, to Jenkin Hill back up over Littleman and back up to Shidda down to Long side and back up Carlside and down to Mirehouse. Was 4th time up Skidda this week due to generally poor snow conditions in the Lakes through out the week One day it took me an hour to go up side of Lonscale fell as the snow was knee deep every stride!! That one mile felt like 10!
Yesterdays speed session was just under 5 miles on the Silkstone Shuffle
todays was HILLS HILLS HILLS
From Snake Inn I joined GreenFlash and two others on the Kinder Dozen. I only had time spare for the first 7 climbs before heading home.
Forcast was for light winds, sunshine with the occasional bit of hill clag and odd shower.
We had thick clag, hail, snow, rain and gales.
Very heavy going through the snow drifts and mud but great fun once warm again;)
12.5 miles with 6,000ft
One more day left of the long weekend but the stats are building up.
10ml / 3400ft in Carneddau yesterday with Stef F. Loads of fresh snow on the tops. A memorable mountain day
Strid Wood trail from Storiths, up to the aqueduct and back down the other side, 6m 1000'...no seriously the Strid Wood trail has that cumulative ascent from Storiths . Lots of daytrippers around and lots of wild garlic coming up in the woods, collected a few leaves to flavour tonight's tea.
First time out since Blubberhouses 25 last Sunday, bar some gentle wintry hiking in the Lakes. Introduced my daughter to a lap of Thruscross reservoir. Now have 2 weeks to warm up for 3 Peaks and a week to taper.
I agree. It packs alot of variety into a short run. My young 'un enjoyed it too.
12 miles 3000' on my local Cheesden Brook - Ashworth Moor - Knowl Hill - Top of Pike route. Apart from a bit of hail at the start the weather was bright for most of the run.
Short run today, with the dog on the way back from a family lunch. Dropped off at Mam Nick, ran round the back of Mam Tor and then down to Castleton. 2.1miles, 30 feet climb, 900 feet descent!
Good workout for the calves too, even if the lungs didn't have much to do.
hmm training, currently working arm with a bottle of pedigree...
otherwise 6 miles today with 1500 climb still pissed off that i couldn't descend as quick as i would have liked in pendle race yesterday
ah well continue with alcoholic weights!
ran ennerdale horse shoe fooked now !
9 miles 1500' round the Wadsworth Half-Trog course this morning. Very boggy :)
15 miles and 1000' ascent Oak Bank to John o'Gaunt castle on wet and heavy ground. Spring has definitely been postponed.
A very wet & windy run on Scout Scar-Kendal with my dog.
Saw Craig Roberts & Paul Dugdale( I think it was) obviously stretching their legs after Rivington Pike race.
500 metre barefoot run to finish :)
5ml / 1000ft up and down Beamsley Beacon with Stef followed by half a Rolos Easter egg. Nice way to round off Easter weekend :)
four great snowy runs in four days:
Thursday - up and down Skiddaw from Keswick, 7-8m 2,800ft?
Friday - Braithwaite-Grisedale Pike-Hopegill Head-Whiteside-Buttermere, c. 9m 3,500ft?
Saturday - Anni Waltz recce, 11.5m 3,600ft
Sunday - Ennerdale recce, 23 mile 7,500ft
managed to get out for a five miler around some local woods - very wet and muddy under foot, terroc's didn't fit the bill.
it's weekends like that that make me think I could train for a BG, but days like Sunday that make me relieved I'm not doing!
ta mate - loved it, was a privilege to be up there and the weather stayed generally the right side of challenging
