Still running in a bit of snow so this mornings run had a bit of everything with a 2700ft climb thrown in for good measure.

2.5 miles, 20ft climbing:( first run in 2 weeks due to well dodgy calfs, all seemed good other than very flat and too short! Good to be running again though:)
Quite literally flying at the mo, ran round my training loop in record time this morning...shame no racing till late summer :(
A steady/easy 50 mins c5.75 miles/400ft on trails around Woodhall Hills & through Calverley Woods.
A very gentle 5 miles and 450' at the Much Wenlock end of Wenlock Edge, by way of a recovery run after the Exe to Axe. Feeling less stiff now, thankfully.
Lovely evening, woods just starting to come into bud. First T shirt and shorts run of the year!
Jim
yesterday 7th april
Am 22 miles fixie bike ride.
Pm - nine miles steady including 3 mile Bunny run "speed" session
Monday 2 hours on pendle just kept running up and down hills, it seemed like a good idea to go down them until i realised i had to climb back up the bloody thing!
tuesday 5 miles reasonbly flat...
today 8 1/2 miles 1200ft climb just over an hour(i think)
Yesterday
4 and a bit "recovery" miles, barefoot and in Vibrams. Even though it was a recovery run I still put in over 200 metres climb as I think its good not to be too lazy...
Just took it real slow and had a bit of a sit down to enjoy the moment at the top of the hill.
6 miles off road, mainly followed Oakworth Haul route with some nobs on. 700ft climbing 1,117 accumulative. V muddy in places.
All around the Wrekin - 4 and a bit miles (GPS on the phone quit when my wife rang to see where I was!!) and about 600' of ascent, including a good strong walk up to Little Hill. Average pace was around 10:45, so quite quick for me!!
Trying again to get on with my Mudclaws - got a blister on my left foot this time. The lacing seems to be absolutely critical on these - maybe a pair of two layer socks would help.
Jim
30-minute jog last night and 12 x 20 press-ups alt. with 12 x 20 sit-ups/ crunches etc
About 30 Dpers out last night over howden edge, not a cloud in the sky, and a stunning sunset, about 7 miles 1,000ft brilliant.
yesterday 9th April
17m, Bradford 3 peaks, mainly trail.
What a glorious day
A variant on the Mickledon Straddle but still 13 miles and 2,000ft and all before breakfast:D
Lapwings and curlews were calling and Skylarks were singing, not a breath of wind and just a slight haze in the sky. I didn't see a sole until returning through Langsett woods
Today is a good day to be alive....:D
Had the best run of the year yet today - straight up the side of Kinder (up The Wicken, just W of Blackden Clough). Around the N edge for a bit, then across to kinder gates, quick dash over to the downfall, back across the middle to the top of Crowden Clough. Round the skyline for a snack stop on Grindsbrook knoll then back into the black stuff for a while, before the Kamikaze descent of Blackden Edge and Dean Hill.....
Only about 11 miles, but absolutely perfect weather, plenty of wildlife, streams are tasting lovely again - a whole summer like today would make me a very happy man!
Warm today, top came off after 500 yards and I had my 1st bare chested run of the year over and round Hameldon hill. Car was displayed an external temp of 15 degrees soon after lunchtime!
13 mile multi-terrain run with Sinatra early this morning in glorious weather.
Longest run i've done at 2hrs 47minutes in what was a perfect evening. Headed up Moel Fenlli then Moel Famau then Moel Arthur and back up Moel Famau via the gulley. Deserved my beer tonight :d
i'm really enjoying the running at the moment, wouldn't want it to happen again but getting injured and being a lot more sensible for a while has given me a nice little boost and made me quite a bit more reflective about training etc , was a little sad it started to go dark tonight! (still not got my hill legs yet though) Resting tomorrow then the Borders League at Prestatyn on Sunday
Another Pre Breakfast run
Back Tor- Abbey Brook- Cartledge Rocks and back.
Very hot, no wind but lovely and clear, lots of Hares.
Topless running but covered in midges sticking to the sweat
Topless running also was in order for me this morning up on Pendle, and it seemed to be a running theme with everyone except the women ( :( ) I met!!
2 hours or so with the pup.
Another topless run. 90 minutes round and about Hameldon hill. Feels very warm, might even try the shorts on the bike tommoz for the 1st time this year!!
Experimental run with new heel inserts. 18.5 miles, 3000ft ascent.
Experiment failed. Heels fine, big toes wrecked, assume because of the shift in pressure. Home amputation a la Sir Ranulph a possibility :(. Accordingly, given the permanent difference in foot position, quads are absolutely butchered too.
Lovely weather though, first topless jaunt of the year:).
10 mile hilly training round, usually do it do it in 1.50/55 did it today in a 1.39 a pb.
Intended to do a 4 mile run yesterday as a warm down from the Bradford 3 peaks and a cycle ride this am to complement today's run but the grape juice got me.
A fast, hot and eventually agonising 18 miles in the North Downs. Broken.
it is possible to over do it isn't it - didn't feel too good all yesterday after that, didn't sleep well and feel bloody battered today ... first long day out in real heat I think.
Slow and steady with Rob and Mary followed by a run home with Allan from PFPR, Took in an aircraft wreck or two
About 14 miles and 1100ft
A steady 8 miler up the PW, along Standedge & down the Wessenden Valley, up Deer Hill & along the water courses home. 1100ft climb and a bit of sunburn.
The Ingleton falls trail, 4.5m 800'. Did it backwards to avoid paying but twice stopped to pick up disgarded tickets so i'll not charge them for my services :D. I wasn't really ready for afternoon tea by the time i got to the West Winds tea rooms in Buckden so i had a quick dash up the Pike (but didn't meet Stolly) and binged on two slices of coffee cake for high tea . Took the same route out as the race and came down the tourist path; 5m, 1550'. Today's total: an ambitious 9.5m 2350' my knee's ok for the time being but my ankles hurt again, going to have to calm down but it was such a nice day.
An hour's run down by the river... Need to get back to running up some hills, my calves are complaining about all the flat running I am doing at the moment
Yeah it's a cracking route if a bit congested at the best of times, those steps are good for the quads but you have to watch out for sticky uppy rocks aplenty. Even if you don't park in their laughably overpriced carpark i think you still have to pay to walk the route, if they were charging a more sensible fee i wouldn't have a problem but £8 or whatever it is...who do they think they are kidding? you could park for 5 hours in the centre of Leeds for that.
Nice route from Dent over Whernside, Twistleton, waterfalls and loop back and up Gragareth, Great Combe and back to Dent. One for this summer again me thinks.
Steady run getting back into it after 10 days off:
Distance - 7.8 miles
Time - 57.48
Elevation gain - approx 1200 ft
Terrain - 1/2 track & 1/2 road gently undulating
Good weather and very enjoyable:)
