Yesterday was 2km on the treadie quick (well for me:o ) followed by an hour of leg strengthening, glutes etc, core stability, and abs work - bloomin aching this morning felt like my hamstrings were going to snap
So, off to the gym this morning for a 1km warm up (on the track) then 5 x 100m recovery, 100m sprint, 90 second rest then off again for 3 sets in total followed by a quick 1km straight to finish. 5km on the recumbant (sp?) bike on level 10 rpm staying over 80 - ouch:eek: then more core stability...............off for a lie down:rolleyes:
I will get fit!!!:D
Pendle race route for me today with calves feeling fresh as a result of my new stretching program. A dusting of snow/ice on the side of Pendle gave cold hands on the steep climb up to the trig and then a thigh deep wash off in the river at Barley to cool things down even more!
7 miles of reps. First three in 5:17 average. Next 3 run as 5x3minute efforts with 90 secs recovery, managed 5:18.
Was running these well within myself as I believe doing flat out efforts when tired easily leads to injury. So am very happy to have achieved best average pace this year (as well as fastest single mile time)
Spent the morning training around Winter hill, did around seven miles steady pace. I also completed an hour of sneaky hill reps at work in the stairwell!! (7 floors):)
Just a very steady 5miles, 7mins slower than previous best - if only you could improve as quickley as you lose strength during illness, we'd all be world beaters!!
Anyway lets hope its an uninterupted road to recovery.
I have done 400,800,1500,800,400 and then a 400 relay cause i was coaching my group
just under 8 miles for my run round cheetham close.
set out to have an easy one but found myself tired and couldn't understand why!
Only when I got back 2 mins quicker than I have ever done the route before!:D
Am thinking about 16 slow (properly) on the road this afternoon!
10 mins upper bodywork devouring a McDonalds Big Breakfast meal and a McBacon roll "chaser" - yum!
Just recovering from six weeks of the nastiest virus I've had in years so only managed one lap of Albert Park in Melbourne (where they hold the F1 racing) - that's about 5K on the flat.
Going to have to ramp up quickly for the Anniversary Waltz and PPP.
Wish me luck. :)
20 miles of my hilly road circuit. Felt not too bad considering the efforts of last night. Really pleased that Ive now finished the long runs. Just 2 short races next week and a 10 and a 15 at easter to go.
12 miles just very quick
loads of dog crap and chavvies as i ran through ilson , and heanor :(
last nite 10 miles
ready for the downfall now
cant wait , some proper terrain
wasn't going to bother today - slight DOMS problem:o However, the lure of the gym was too great and just back from an hours sweaty spin class - thoroughly enjoyable:D Just hope I can still walk in the morning!!
6.5 miles in Heaton Park at lunchtime.
13 miles around Hayfield. Visibility awful on Kinder.
3 hours in Total Fitness. Gym, sauna, swim, hydrotherapy pool.
5 pints of Deuchars IPA to re-hydrate!:D
What a perfect life you lead!
by the way, I've drunk Deuchars IPA in the very pub it was first brewed in. Edinburgh, sorry forgotten the name of the pub!
Don't like to miss my daily post here even though i did no training today.
did 10 mile on the trails today sun was lovely & warm :D
Whernside and Ingleborough, it was magic up there today :)
Any easyish 15 miler today , before my long run of 30 miles next weekend. As Oates said, I may be some time!
Yesterday - 13 mile walk in South Craven including Pennine way stretch near Wolfstones Hill -saw one cheerful K&C runner:D and one miserable bleeder:(
Today am - 9 miles steady run in and around Pudsey/Tong valleys including Bankhouse Hill and Post Hill -felt good throughout.
pm - easy 6 mile walk around the reservoirs in Washburn Valley + 1 '99' ice cream (only small size) - saw plenty of 'Blubberhouses 25' runners & walkers .
Am delighted to report winning the Silver medal in the Northwest duathlon Championships. I thought a medal was an outside possibility but with a decent first run, steady bike section and a strong final run where i went from 4th to 2nd, things just seemed to go right for me today. Less than a minute behind the winner but I was never gonna beat him as he is a significantly better runner than I am.
Bankhouse is definitely still there - best pub garden in Leeds IMHO for its views across the valley - I've not been in for a while though but usually meet old next door neighbour from Kirkstall days up there as it has a decent beer choice these days - also used to go quite regularly for food with ex.
Currently living in New Farnley so get into Sykes Wood/Cockersdale first then up to Tong then down Keepers Lane (which was surprisingly dry this morning) before deciding on various options from the valley bottom - but usually straight up beside the golf course to Fulneck/Bankhouse.
5 x 2Km reps up hill then out again this afternoon ;)
Hi Millipede. Good to hear from you.
The illness has been a real pain and I missed the running but have still enjoyed the holiday so far. Did another lap of Albert Park today, two minutes faster than the other day so must be getting better. We fly to Wellington tomorrow for the remainder of our trip. I'll post again from there.
16 miles on the hills on sat for me
Oldham half sunday morning.
lots of hills windy and no fun, didn't help getting talked into going out on sat night either!
:D wow that's hardcore calf!
I just went for a 45 min run.
the drinking....yeah I know!
Are we going to see you at Rivi on sat Hill?
:o maybe. I really want to come up for it but it's a long way to drive on a bank holiday when the traffic will be bad  so it really depends on how busy the rest of my weekend becomes
Ooo didn't realise it was a trek. Where do you live!
It is only 3.25 miles after all and I don't think you get a t-shirt either
Nottingham so it will be a long day for a short race :(
if i am not too busy I might tie it in with some visiting up that way :)
I know I said I'd get you pint if you ran but I ain't buying anything thats going to cover the cost of the petrol for that wee trip!
5 miles tonight and after racing yesterday i ran like an octopus, oh and ive found a new way to blunder over stiles,
run up to the stile and miss the plank and twat your knee on the stile and shout f,.,,n d,.,.y b,..,,.rd as you clamber over it :(
suppose i had better go for a run
