entry in the post, not faired too well ni previous runs but aiming to train proper for it. Something for the weekend sir?
I've entered this despite the fee as I'd vaguely targeted it this year. However, it does mean that my main early and late season targets (PPP and this) are pretty expensive! Mainly using them as a pure test, whereas Lakeland classics are that, but with added enjoyment factor.
Entry list up.....

The first morning after I'd broken my leg, I put on my coat, hat and boot (just the one!) and hobbled up to the post box on my crutches to post off my Ben Nevis entry.
And I've got in!
If ever there was incentive for me to heal quickly but thoroughly and get back out training this is it! (I'm still signed off work and unable to put my left foot on the ground at the moment, though - let's see what I can do by September!)
:thumbup:am in.
Accommodation booked
Can't wait.
Bank Street.
Nice one Trevor, we got a good deal at the new travel lodge, only £72 for Friday/Saturday nights. Good stumbling distance from the pub, which is always a bonus.
The last date for withdrawals will be Friday 16th August and that the runners
cards will be posted out the following week.
If your not going please contact them to give someone a chance.
All excited now as the Race Card/Number dropped through the letter box yesterday.
Can't wait now.
alas had to hand back my entry as someone irresponsibly organised a wedding on the same weekend. As it is I'll be househunting anyway!
next year... (how much will it cost?!! :w00t:)
I've waited two years to have a crack at it and then strained my calf two weeks ago. Got back running over the last 3/4 days then the old niggle is back. Still hoping to make the start line.
Could someone give a Ben novice some tips:
- When does the running stop?! (In terms of when does it stop being runnable, Rob Jebb aside)
- What are the cut offs like?
Much appreciated:thumbup:
Running stops at the Red Burn for me. 3 mile in and an hour for the cut off.
Next section is the tough going mile then the last bit is runable another hour for 1.5 mile.
Hand your tally in at the summit marshal and get back as best you can.
1.15 cut off on finish line.
Keep a bit for the mile of road cause it tough after that descent.
(Then have a great night before the suffering starts)
Watch this for a basic idea of what's to come.

Same here Calf & Knee same leg Aint ran for six week, feeling good now though, the Ben will be my next run then a long lay off, photo's only www.fellrunner.net
Can someone please name the hall where the presentation is usually held.
We have a friend who wants to attend after he has run the West Highland Way.
Many Thanks
anyone else not had their number come through yet?
isn't it The Nevis Centre? http://www.neviscentre.co.uk/
Hi folks, apologies for the obvious question, have tried searching back through the thread but haven't been able to readily find the answer...
Where do people camp for the race? My plans have all been a bit up in the air this year so not been able to sort the logistics in advance. Would like to get on where most runners stay but if not I'll look for somewhere else in the vicinity.
Thanks!
Not wanting to spoil a fantastic campsite but check out Bunroy near spean bridge, it's a little further(20 minutes) but cheap at £7 pp with good facilities, great wildlife esp birds set in a little wood by the river spean. it's very quiet and never busy and is always my campsite of choice, very friendly.
if you are going to behave then mention my name ;)
Thanks Stolly / Ian, good to have a few options. Just need to decide now whether I want a quieter / cheaper option or a slightly more expensive / nearby option with probably more opportunity for banter with other runners!
Just checked the weather forecast, going to be cold and sleety on Friday, fingers crossed for a drastic change on Saturday!
Cool but sunny here.

Alternatively, you can camp in Glen Coe and go to the Ballachulish Hotel Ceilidh the night before, get moderately absolutely howling, walk back in the rain at 3am and then have a jolly good run a few hours later.
Not that I would condone that sort of thing.
or ever actually do it....................um, yes, well.
It was an awfully good ceilidh!!!
Looking better as the week progresses.
Can't wait now.
