On race day the route heads up the cobbles and into the parking field, then descends to to Lee Bank via 3 fields (well flagged).
The route then continues as shown in recce map.
When the race returns to Lee Bank (as you curse the organiser for including a 500 feet ascent in the last half mile) you retrace your steps to the parking field, but instead of returning down the cobbled street, you dive through a gap in a wall into the finsh field (200m down hill sprint) where you collapse in a heap gasping for oxygen.
Hoping to get this map up on website tonight....

Here's a quick pic to wet your appetites for the Heptonstall Festival Fell Race this weekend – Taken a few days ago from the trig point at High Brown Knoll!

Re: HEPTONSTALL FESTIVAL 9th J
Thanks Trig - I seemed to recall there were some slight deviations on actual race day but the recce map (obviousy!) gives a good clue as to the rest of the route. I doubt I'll be leading at any point so there's usually a body or two in sight to give me a general clue as to whether I'm going in the right direction. I'm already 'looking foward' to those lung busting climbs - especially the 500 feet ascent in the last mile. You are a cruel man! ;)

Now then Trig,
Sadly not able to run this year due to dodgy back but will prob pop along to the festival (barring my missus going into labour), not sure if you're involved with the rest of the fest, ust wondered what other stuff there is going on to keep my kids entertained?
Cheers

Half of it is down hill! Some classic scenes of a recent race in March to get in the mood http://www.flickr.com/photos/kipp/6847865076/

This article in the Hebden Bridge times online gives a good run down of proceedings http://www.hebdenbridgetimes.co.uk/l...-fun-1-4703873
I can also confirm a major musical masterstroke in the form of I am Kloot's John Bramwell who is to play a solo set in Weavers Square on Saturday (post race)!! If you haven't previously heard anything by Kloot check out the following links http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wlmMumA0CMU

Just wanted a reminder of what I (might) be letting myself in for, and to plan where to cache my oxygen cylinder / spare legs ;-)
