It makes a change to be climbing up the league over Christmas! What do make of the Henry loan deal?

No brainer really, he'll act as an inspiration to the youngsters and he'll be a damn good substitute. Think he may even start vs Leeds if he's signed in time. He's only here for 8 games I think and may give Van persie a bit of a rest if needed. Couple of decent signings and then 4th place is more likely. Don't think we'll get above Spurs but we can but wish!!!

Think it's similar to when we signed Larsson a few years back - I think it'll be good for you

I said exactly the same thing to another gooner at the weekend. Apparently he's been very impressive in training, but they always are aren't they!

You're taking the word of the Daily Mail as Gospel then?

Re: Tonight's football thread
Gutted, Zamora scoring the winner, that's just embarrasing. Typical Arsenal.

To be fair, I've no idea whether he actually had pie and chips - not even the Daily Mail got that scoop.

Fair enough, I can vouch that Pie and Chips definitely DOES make you sluggish the next day - that's my excuse anyway ;)

Oh the pleasures of being a Gooner, just when I thought I could go back to school with my head held high, they go and do this to me. :o

Re: Tonight's football thread
Manchester's been a bad place to be a Gooner for a while now......

Will it be a bad place for Liverpool ?

Re: Tonight's football thread
City 1 Liverpool 0 (a bit of a cockup on the goalkeeping front!)
-
Re: Tonight's football thread
HT
City 2 Liverpool 0
The second goal was against the run of play but I think Company has a case for sexual harassment against Skrtel who has been all over him in the Liverpool penalty area :w00t:

Re: Tonight's football thread
Did they forget to put the microphones out, or is it really that quiet??

Re: Tonight's football thread
Barry sent off!
Skrtel "brings down" Toure
Milner scores from the spot.
City 3 Liverpool 0

In all honesty Alf I don't think we played that well tonight.
The Aguero goal was poor goalkeeping, the Toure goal was poor defending and the Milner goal was a penalty.
It seemed like Liverpool created more chances than we did.
I think we're fatigued and off form at the moment but I still believe the league is ours to lose. Oh and i'd love to stuff the rags in FA Cup on Sunday too.;)

If the 'pundit' on the Newcastle / Man U match says "It's a fair point Martin" once more, I'm going to kick the telly in...

Hello The Heathens, I'll be off this thread for a while - I'm off to find a bigger shovel to dig the hole I'm going to bury my head in...

Main talking pt is the red card. He won the ball. Two footed challenge is a red card. Not a two footed foul. Its pretty clear by the rules and something I've consistently said.. the defence of 'he won the ball' is immaterial. Good decision.

Re: Tonight's football thread
could be good 3-2 now, but little biara doesn't want to watch it aaaaarrrrrggggghhhhh!!! She is getting more involved with football, think she needs more training.

Re: Tonight's football thread
Good entertainment, just spoiled a tad by the ref in the 1st half.
-
Re: Tonight's football thread
Aye.... we need to sort out our keeper situation... that game should have been over at half time... good to get the win in... it'll help us but we could have done with an easier second half as that will give City belief anyway..
-
Re: Tonight's football thread
Some City fans might blame the red card, but he was sent off,end of,good effort in the second half but fair play to united for hanging on,good advert for english football
-
Re: Tonight's football thread
Great game. Neither team looked totally dominant and I was disappointed in the way Utd didn't finish it off, but a good footballing spectacle nonetheless.

The red card affected the game.. but did he have a choice. Two footed.. off the ground.. its a red. The rules are strict and clear. Foy would have got in trouble if he'd let that go. In the fact he did get the ball it seems harsh, but in the rules there is little scope for interpretation and too many two footers are allowed, which makes these ones harsh..
We also had the deffo penalty on Valencia turned down..

Fair point in the letter of the law, but booking Wellbeck???????

Re: Tonight's football thread
The sending off (right or wrong?) ruined the first half for me after a cracking header from Rooney put United ahead and set up the match nicely. Fortunately the second half made it more of a spectacle as its not often non-satellite TV gets a domestic fixture like this. Overall a very enjoyable game

I'd agree if it was off the ground but it wasn't as every replay shows. Nani had no complaints as he neither dived or complained but got on with the game, the ref wasn't going to take any action until some UTD players started to complain
At least two penalty shouts missed, a poor level of refereeing for such an important game. The game should have been dead and buried by 20 minutes.
Lots of delusional UTD fans on FB saying they're back when all they did was scrape a 2:3 win against 10 men! Justice would have been served had that last minute free kick gone in and we could have seen a proper 11 against 11 match to decide it

I was watching on line.. everyone in Llanberis seems to be 'alternative' no one has a ruddy TV.... so I missed a fair few moments when the signal went poor..
I think he was off the ground though Ian. But two footed is two footed. City will take heart from that so I don't think this was any significant blow either way. The loss of Kompany, along with the African players will be the biggest bonus for United... but we need to continue our current transfer policy and bring back VDS.... him in goal.. Scholes in the middle.. Cantona up front...

I think They said that a reckless 2 footed tackle is a yellow and A dangerous 2 footed is a red, it certainly wasn't dangerous.
As to the new line up...
only when the seagulls follow the trawler will the dolphins feed....?!
