Last year I did Tankys for the first time and was concerned about getting back to marsden. I put a lift wanted post on the Car Sharing section and the lovely Mrs Stagger very kindly helped  Many of the runners do as you thought trilathon ;)

You know the part on the entry form where you fill in the number of your support vehicle. I believe that's supposed to be the car that drops you off at Marsden, meets you at the IOS road, meets you at Crowden, meets you at the Snake Road and picks you up at Edale.
Or am I being naive?

Marg is refering to the shorter/rougher option over Bleaklow which has been mentioned before. This is ok for Margerine as he is a local enough to have checked the route and has almost certainly recced it. Also mention before is that unless you know your way then Torside is the easiest to navigate and the bulk of runners will go this way.

I can second that. Was on the shorter route on Sunday with the clag well and truly down. Map & Compass can be little help with 50ft visability when moving at speed. It is one thing pacing your way along a bearing, it is another running! We did both routes & managed to circle the Hern stones before we hit them the second time. Still, it wasn't all bad, we found a sock;).

Re: Tanky's Trog 2009 is on!!
Gutted not to be doing this again this year, was a 'virgin' last year but put on about a stone and a half and done very little running since. Will be back fitter than ever (which isn't saying much) next year.
Last year conditions were fantastic especially the pefect neve (is that the right word) going up onto Kinder.

First time on here so hope I've pressed all the buttons in the right order.
I've entered and been wondering about logistics of returning to Marsden too, especially as my running partner's not now entering.
If you want to team up car wise trilathon, be more than happy to. :)

Morning Everyone,
Spent years reading the threads on here but now had to break glass (in case of emergency)!! I might be a bit thick but I am getting told two different stories so could anyone confirm whether when leaving Crowden we have to go right or can we go left and cross to Bleaklow on the Shining Clough side, which I am told was out of bounds last year?
Sorry if I have missed this point earlier on in the thread

I've uploaded it to bike hike so you can see it on an OS map which is slightly more helpful!

I think all the stuff above the Shoot the Wild Boar farm place will still be out-of-bounds - unless you want to be a moving target

Rollick Stones is out of bounds as is the shooting range. there is access to Wildboar clough but it is West of the shooting area 072 985 approx a very long way round.

Unless you get lost you'll have no Dark Peakers to follow, we're all running over Grinha and Alport in the Club champs.

Looks like it's going to be night recce so won't get to see very much at all.

It looks like there is a mass Glossopdale recce on Sunday morning as well, so I guess Bleaklow will be awash with runners plotting new secret routes

Luv Shack knows a secret route that is only available to bona fide KFR members.
Ive spent years gaining the knowledge.
Your all going to be shocked

Re: Tanky's Trog 2009 is on!!
Had a good recce of Bleaklow and Kinder today but be WARNED.
The route onto Bleaklow to the east of the out of bounds shoot is riddled with snares .
I got my foot in one and needed help to release it, fortunately it tightened around my shoe and not my ankle.
If you come across areas of heather with tracks about 500mm wide cut into them be very wary.

Andy if these Snares aren't covered I'm sure they are illegal so get them reported:mad:
Were they low down or above or PM me the details
-
Re: Tanky's Trog 2009 is on!!
If the snare encountered is 'self locking' it is illegal and must be reported. On an exposed spot like Lawrence Edge, getting trapped when out alone could prove fatal. This stupidity needs tackling before someone gets hurt.
