Spare number available ...sadly still injured from ennerdale so can't run :(... pm me if interested!
Shame you're still injured from Ennerdale Moo (it'll be that 'orrible walk back that did it), but you have a PM
camping normally available in the farmers field on the friday night and saturday night after race. 2 quid last year per person. all mod cons, farm yard and public toilet and hot and cold running river (well cold mainly) + tap.
or theres chapel farm campsite about half a mile away with hot showers. or hollows farm about 2miles down stream from rosthwaite.
scoffer might know if race camping is available this year, pm him
Think we are camping at Seatoller Farm, about 1 mile further down the valley from Rosthwaite.
Anyone know how dry it is on the tops. I had heard there was water by Esk Hause and just before GG. Are they still running? It'll save carrying a bladder.

Owing to work I have a Borrowdale entry to give away - Email me at [email protected]
David
I know its late but has anyone got a link to a decent route map? Suppose I better start visualising my demise according to contour lines eh.
I have an unwanted entry:01943 [email protected]
Perhaps not the best forum for this, but good luck to everyone, espec those I'll see at Crow Hill a few days later.
Injury prevents me from running (picked it up swimming on holiday...really pi£%ed off!!!!).
PM me if you want to have a run.
Another entry going, injury and work commitments prevent me running.
Again pm me if you want it.
I also know of another place going from someone in our club.
Andy
Oh....I REALLY want to do this but just can't, Curses. :(:(
Good Luck everyone....... have a good un. :)
go on you know you want to! go on go on go on go on!
Owing to stuff and being in Somerset, I can't take my place at the weekend. email timculshawATgooglemail.com if you want it. Cheers.
hmm what about the dog kennels at yew tree farm, that will keep them safe till you get back!
very true bout the weather, though forecast seems to be improving for the weekend. long as its better than the great lakes run ill be happy.
And theres another entry going for grabs, PM me if you want it.
Cheers
Sharon :)
Have a number going - pm if you'd like it....cheers
I'm on the hunt for a number. Please email [email protected] or phone 07946 412655 if you know of an unused number.
Cheers Neil Hardiman
I'll gladly take it off you if it's still available. My details are posted just below your message.
Cheers Neil Hardiman
I know of four runners who have decided in the past week that they are NOT now doing Borrowdale. E-mail me and I'll pass them on.
Time we had a thread devoted to the race rather than getting a number.
Weather forecast has deteriorated a bit, with heavy showers and poor visibility expected; anyone putting any money on a another shortened version this year?
Would that be 'allowed' given it's a champs race?
It was a tough call last year and a shame it was cut short.
Given the speed the weather changes and it did in fact improve enough by the time (well at least I) reached Allen Craggs etc
However, it could just as well be clear at the start then have a zero visibility by the time scarfell pike is reached such is the climate up there
If a warning comes from MRT on the grounds of safety, I'd say that it shouldn't matter if it's a champs race or not. It'd take some bottle, but (based on last year) I'd have confidence in Scoffer to take a hard decision if it was required.
However, I don't think the forecast is THAT bad yet, and I take your point that conditions can change rapidly up there. In fact, the weather in Keswick often bears no relation at all to what's happening at (say) Esk Hause.
Anyway emmilou, I'm glad that conditions look likely to be cooler than at Round Hill last Sunday. I got well lobstered; did you finish up matching your pink vest?
Did I, Blimey I was nearly passing out!
Last December we were up hellvelyn in teh snow and came back down to Keswick to all in short sleeves and sun shine
I don't for a second think Scoffer made a bad call I would have hated to be in his shoes... but, can I assume that there has been some sort of 'qualifying' criteria in order to run this year???
Last year I was running next to some bloke with NO bad weather gear in a pair of bog standard road trainers with out the knowledge of how to use a compass nor on his admission any inclination to use it!!
It was thick clag on the top of great gable to the point of barely seeing your hand in front of your face and this guy had no clue whatso ever where to go.
If I or anybody else has applied the same tact as him and was in turn relying on him then I'd still be there, yet some people set off clueless with the thought they'll wing it thinking there will always be someone to follow. Yes luckily for him there was..... ME!!
Cheers Emmilou,
on the subject of kit, I'm one of the few who actually overdo it, in terms of taking plenty to eat/drink, full body cover, map compass, whistle etc. I often carry much of the food/drink over the finish line with me but I prefer to have too much eh.
Fortunately, I have not had to use my compass yet (only been lakes running for two years) but I practice before every race just to remind myself that I can do it.
Oh, boy, I'm looking forward to this race now. Having not run it before, my main concern is reaching the 3.5 hr cutoff.

Its a shame there was no shops on route you could have fooled him like you did with Chirs and me @ Kettlewell
ha ha ha !! well yes there is that! BUT, you can rest assured I must have learnt something!! ;) I think I was following my fell running instincts and taking the most direct route although not necessarily the quickest......sometimes you men are too speedy for your own good!
well as Big Compass mentions I'm pretty good at going off the beaten track a bit!! I recce'd Borrowdale that much last year I was almost living up Great Gable!
There are plenty of places to stock up on water on route and there are always plenty of jelly babies on offer around Blea Tarn and Honister!
I'm sure you'll manage the cut off ML....think on a recce of the full route I was being paced round and made it with time to spare so there's certainly hope for everyone! Enjoy. :D
Has anyone a list of the checkpoints or a map please?
Found em:o
1 Bessy Boot summit 258125
2 Esk Hause shelter 235083
3 Scafell Pike summit 215072
4 Great Gable summit 211104
5 Honister Hause 225135
6 Dalehead summit 223154
i think expect the worst the weather can throw at you on a long lakes race then prepare for it. if you carry too much gear so be it, im not going to be up with simon booth or lloyd taggart so whats the worry. get round in canny style and finish as well as i can but be prepared for sh**e weather. my mate got hypothermia on the great lakes run going over similar ground ( midsummers day)
