I totally agree Richard, typical of the man that he didn't want to announce it last week with Bacon retiring and Mancini getting sacked, oh no he wanted wall to wall breaking news. If he had played for any other PL team he would have become just another average player.Never have I seen a so called "world class player" so useless, he couldn't tackle, couldn't head, couldn't beat a man with pace or skill. Shooting was his forte. Nothing else and a real prima-dona too.

You clearly never watched him- sounds more like a description of Gareth Barry, except he can't shoot.

You'll never understand it Iain. You will be glad to know however that City fans are having a 1 minute applause on Sunday after 61 minutes in appreciation of Roberto and everything that he has done for us.
6-1
A dedicated moment of appreciation for Roberto Mancini at the last match of the season.

His next mission will be to get a knighthood. He'll do a few well publicised stunts for charity. We'll see him hold a dying kids hand, feed a few Africans and shed a few tears while making an impassioned plea for world peace. Only if he's accompanied by his publicist of course. He wouldn't want to waste any tears if no cameras were about.

Says it all about your class.. no I'll never be that bitter..
I have said many many times how much I rated Mario.. how much I rate Lamps.. how much I rate Gerrard..
To dismiss Beckhams ability just shows how one eyed you are.. so Danbo knows more about judging a player than all those who twice voted him one of the greatest players in the world.. SAF who selected him for so many years.. all the England managers who selected him for 100+ caps.. the managers of Madrid.. AC Milan And PSG who also took him to their clubs..
You are losing it this week Danbo.. head down.. calm down.. City will come again.. it probably won't take 40 years this time...

Beckham can now concentrate on eradicating disease, famine and poverty throughout the world. When he gets the knighthood he's desperate for and which has driven his non-footballing activities for years he'll act all humble and with a tear in his eye he'll say he never expected the honour and that he doesn't deserve it. To which the world will collectively shout at their TV screens "No you don't, you self serving media whore".

The fact remains he got 115? england caps.. 10? titles in 4 countries.. and is one of the richest footballers in the world.. and I'm sure he's gutted you don't rate him.. as careers go I think he can bow out saying job done..

An interesting point. What is it about Gary Neville that a generation of fans didn't take to? And why do many of them think Phil Neville is okay?
As for Beckham, he did alright didn't he? Anyone who doesn't rate him is just jealous as far as I can see :closed:
Re: Tonight's football thread
Neville is rated by many as Uniteds greatest ever right backs.. Shearer once said he was the best crosser of the ball in the premiership...
Again RH shows his footballing knowledge..
I still can't work out how Man U won a treble wiH Butt, Scholes, Beckham, Cole, Giggs, Neville, Neville all who were shite.. managed by an alcoholic demented manager..
And then another 37 trophies..
Somehow.. somewhere.. we had some good players...
