Re: Edale Skyline Fell Race
I'll be driving out from Sheffield if anyone needs a lift. Will have 3 seats available and plenty of boot space for kit.
Not racing so I will drop off and try and find somewhere more practical to park. Hot tea potentially on offer at mam nick road crossing too - conditions will be brutal.

It's open at the moment Phil, I'll be heading down there tomorrow am to help put the tents up.....
Roads not too bad round here, ground is quite warm and theyve been gritted so moving nicely but what it will like after temp drops tonight is another matter.
Not sure what the farmer field will be like? Train may be best.
We'll keep you posted
Re: Edale Skyline Fell Race
Good luck to everyone! Very jealous I'm missing out this year, sounds like it's going to be one to remember with the weather.
Re: Edale Skyline Fell Race
I must say I am extremely excited about Sunday. A little anxious also!
I think the challenging conditions will make it a fantastic race.
My bag prep has started and I'l no doubt be packing and unpacking it until Sunday morning.. Will be making all my food up later. Dates and flapjack. Bananas and choc milk. One of my favourite pastimes, running and eating!
Well done the good work x

I know this has been posted often but in the interests of getting you all round safely.
For those who are new to the Skyline or these conditions...
What follows are the race reviews/comments/feelings/observations after 2007's epic race.
It sounds like there will be less wind but more snow, any doubts in your mind should be considered and extra precautions taken.

Never mind the Hope Valley, you've got to get out of Keswick first ;)
Re: Edale Skyline Fell Race
started packing last night, and just finished marking up my maps
oh, and I've started a Car Sharing thread...
Re: Edale Skyline Fell Race
the trains to and from Sheffield were a bit of a mess this morning, worth keeping an eye on the live departure boards today and tomorrow to get a feel for how they'll be running on Sunday. I think there's only 2 mcr-edale trains on Sunday, the later of which gets in around 10:15 am
Re: Edale Skyline Fell Race
Whilst everyone seems very excited at the prospect of racing (as opposed to chugging round the course) in gnarly conditions it is worth remembering that this is not just a local race, but a national one. There is considerable pressure on those likely to score points in the Championship to get to the race whatever. When the overnight temperatures are going to be considerably below zero, the obvious dangers of travelling are self evident. If I where a twitter user: #not convinced.....

manchester trains get there at 8.33am and 10.07am and the sheffield at 9.52. we can delay the start if lots of people come on the train and it is needed.
