TTTTTTTTTTempo on local rural pathways. Loved it
Had a run out round the FTOP this morning, was my first chance to test my new Mudclaw 272's, and I was hugely impressed with them.
You could tell they had some extra weight than the talons, but they still felt featherweight after trekking round the Brecon Beacons last week with a bergen and boots.
Contrary to weather reports it wasn't all that bad up on Pendle, just the clag down, and not much wind really. Very wet underfoot, but the claws made mincemeat of the trods.
15k around Shields/Whitley bay in 1:15 (not including a 4minute stop in an outdoor shop to look at sleeping bags...)
29km and 1836m ascent in the depths of Fife.
Sick of seeing thick heather and tussocks on the climbs but a good run out for me!
BG leg 1 with a run back to Keswick, weather wanst to bad(light rain low clag no wind after Skiddaw) but under foot was very wet with the river crossing @ Blencathra turning into a swim
c 14ml / 2000ft circuit of Embsay Moor with Stef
After a rough patch at the end of last year from Nov with little training and illness through Dec and Xmas and new year periods, have only been able to train properly from early Jan. Don't keep a training diary so
Week before last 60 miles (inc Hebden)
Last week 31 miles
This week
Sunday 30th - 15 miles, middle section of the Trog and some extra bits around Hardcastle crags
Monday 31st - 6 m bike, 3 run, Club off road duathlon
Wed 2nd am - 16 mile, Calder valley round
pm - 4 mile off road head-torch run, (should have been further but K1M and Brett are wimps).
Fri 4th - 5 mile off road head-torch run
Sat 5th - 7 mile off road run (part head-torch)
I got up and down off the couch a few times throughout the day, mainly to get food out the freezer and put it in the oven, or retreive the remote from were i'd left it lying about ( dont you hate it when your own the couch and you realise youve left the remote well out of reach :/ ). I did get my heart rate up a couple of times as I backed 2 winners and got a bit excited shouting Blazing Bailey home at odds of 6/1.
9 miles 1/2 trog recce
10ml / 3400ft with Stef. Arncliffe - Kettlewell - Gt Whernside - Kettlewell - Arncliffe. Wild on the tops and a real struggle in the wind
27 miles last week including a couple of runs whilst having a relaxing spa weekend at Centreparcs Whinfell Forest!
I did an 11 miler on Saturday morning just around the complex in and out of the forest trails. My garmin measured over 2500 feet of ascent! :w00t: I thought it was an 'undulating' run but surely that can't be right? Good if it is though!
the last of the winter monday races for me, I'll miss the last one skiing but I hope it won't effect the overall results ;) .
7.43 miles 1255ft climb in 55.37 4.20 minutes off my PB, but "Over the Hill" gets his revenge, I just beat him last time, this time though he beat me easily by a couple of minutes.
Nicky was there as was Green Flash a great series of races for keeping you sharp, roll on the Summer Series...
5.4miles off road bog trotting on the Leeds country way. Got chased by a horse and had to jump a stile which resulted in a nasty twinge in my calf. I think it's just a minor pull and I was only about 1/4 mile from home so sprayed the hose on it straight away, hopefully caught it in time...
Serious 45min spin class last night, sandwiched between two reasonably-paced 20-minute runs.
Duathlon anyone?
19 min 5k on the "dreadmill" this a.m. Followed by a nice cycle to work. Already contemplating the ride back.
You must have been looking forward to getting off that dreadmill Jez, with a time like that!
I've had a lovely 5.5 mile run partly along the seafront this morning...in the warmth of a bright yellow thing in the sky! :w00t:
Felt good too, even though I really didn't feel like going out with heavy legs, once I was out it felt unexpectedly easy!
Great weekend in the Shropshire Hills.
Sat - Cardingan Canter, cup of tea then 70 min run to Callow and back.
Sun - Recce of the long Mynd route.
Legs were smashed on Monday.
6 mile run to warm up, before club interval session of 6 x 800metres all whacked out at 2mins25-235, 2 mile slow run and stretches to finish off before an hour in the hydrotherapy pool/steam room in gym next door :-)
First runs in a while today - 4.5 miles into work in 36 min, then 3 miles (mostly downhill) on the way back in 18.30. Leg speed is somewhat lacking after a week and a half off so hopefully I'll get quicker later in the week and/or next week. Hills felt OK though, so that's better than I expected.
Out at 7 a.m, still a little dark & so peaceful. 8.5 miles from Baildon Moors up to Dick Hudsons & The 12 Apostles. Them came back home via the Rombalds Stride route, in reverse, to Weecher. From Trig Point, just dropped off the side & home. Great start to the day.
for got to add 8 miles this morning With marvin on a HPM run
9 X 75 seconds steepish hill repeats.
Wanted to do 10 but I'd had a nice sasuage butty for breakfast and I could feel it coming back up half through hill repeat 9.
Dragged myself out for a lunchtime run round town. Heart's not in it this week http://forum.fellrunner.org.uk/images/icons/icon9.png
19 miler llyn brenig and alwen reservoir. lovely day for it
Session on treadmill at work. 1% incline, start at 10 k/ph. Increase speed by .1 for every 100 metres and see how far you get before you're bolloxed.Did 16.2 today. My record is 17. I'm sure somebody out there can get to 20!!!!
Plan for tomorrow: Car over to Ilkley & leave it there, train back to Baildon, run to Ilkley, meet up with son, run with Ilkley Junior Harriers, pick car up, drive to Ilkley Lawn Tennis Club, shower, coffee & snack in Cafe Nero, drive home, relax. Man with a plan ??
just been for a five miler which had a lot of short sharp ascents and descents, felt hard work after the hangover.
6.5 miles around Ilkley Moors on my own, then hooked up with my son & the Ilkley Junior Harriers for a further 4 miles. Great stuff !!
Nice sunny run round the first half of the Edale Skyline. Lots of runners out - did I speak to anyone on here? I was wearing a black Omm 2008 tshirt
22 miles 2,300ft
Langsett(with Datt)-Cutgate-Outer Edge (via the aircraft wreck) Then followed the HPM all way to Wainstones, On my return I passed many parties out for a recce. Returned Via Grinha and Barrow taking in the tea plant and the source of the Derwent sign. A lovelr run down to the Derwent then back up to Outer edge via Lord Howard Springs and the Icelandic airplane wreck. Another party recceing on OE, took the direct route back and picked up another tea plant(not literally) had a look at the supposed Bomb crater(still think it's the one near Cut gate) the started back however pulled up when I came across an unexploded Shell(not the usuall small tracers) Having it checked out as I type.
Weather was very mixed Thick clag at the start a blue sky in the middle, rain followed me home though, Even had a bit of Hail.
Conditions were very heavy under foot.
Loads of wild life.
Very hard work but it was good to get out for a decent run at last :o) 6.30 hours
Ian, nice time on your feet fella !!
Absolutely :)
