How far did you run doing that???
when I used to go to a gym they had one programme on the running machine that was hell.
30 minute programme started at 10kph on the flat, it went up .5 degree every 30 seconds to 15 degrees then it started to increase speed by .5kph every minute up to 15 kph then you had to hang on.......Bloody hard!
Nice mid-afternoon jaunt up Wimberry, descent from Stable Stones Brow and back through the Plantation home...quick 'hello' to Sally Newman who was heading into The Chew via the Plantation, when I was heading home....Great little outing....:)
22mile recce of Trollers Trot course taking in Threshfield moor, Winterburn reservoir, Hetton, Rylstones, Barden Moor, Upper and Lower Barden Reservoirs and the dales way along the wharfe past Appletreewick, Burnsall, Linton and Grassington. Great weather and a good run. 3:20 running (although I did stop twice for 10mins for a bit of refuelling)
Just done a 2 hr dog walk. Got the runs: the dog that is, not me! Any running vets out there? Tried fasting and the chicken and rice trick. How do you stop them eating grass? Probably how she's picked up the bug.
Nick beer 10k was fun going up the orme
13.5 miler local today along the cliff tops and coastal tracks. Last 4 miles on the way back was quite tough going against the wind.
35 mile this week.
End of Week 5 of the training plan....11 weeks to go! :w00t:
Nice little outing - Greenfield - Ravenstones - Thomas Platt memorial cross - Ashway Stone - descent and through Dovvies quarries - back home via the cottages....Good to bump into TurboTom out for a run, the lads looking fit and geared up for the Champs series of races...
Me and Stef did circa 10 ml / 4000ft today Starbotton-Arncliffe-Kettlewell-Arncliffe-Starbotton. Never stopped raining. Made for a good weekend training with yesterday's Wadsworth Trog :)
Yeah I did it a couple of years ago but with little training as I got an unexpected reserve place 4 weeks before the day!
I'm sure you'll be fine, it's well footpathed/flagged. There's sudden drops off every mountain if you get to close to the edge! :w00t:
It's one of my favourite places and great atmosphere.
Looking forward to it, done lots of small local fell races, this be different lots of runners and lot harder than anything i done before. Heard only good things about race, just gonna tuck in towards the rear and get round the right course
2750 feet of climbing up & down Frodsham Hill. All this training's making me so tired though. My time in Saturday's Anglezarke Amble wasn't fast - I'm just not recovering between runs. Is it going to do me any good or not? I've increased my mileage from 25 to 40 miles a week, and ascent from 4300ft to 7500ft a week with an intense climbing session each week (average for 2010 compared to average so far for 2011). I suppose I'm not going to see any benefit until I try tapering the training off before one event or other. I suppose I'll try that for the Haworth Hobble then, & keep up the pressure until early March. I'll be really fed up if it turns out to be making no difference...
I feel your pain Splatcher, I'm prone to overdoing it, but coming round to the idea of a 'rest week' - one in every four or five, where I do half the amount in the other weeks, and generally do it gentler.
I did Wadsworth Saturday, rested Sunday but then did a quite intense run-bike-run thing last night over two hours and woke up this morning feeling a physical wreck - aches everywhere, drained.
So this is my rest week now!
Andy do not despair. I went through a similar change in training intensity this time last year and am doing so again now (for the BGR). Feeling both very tired and physically battered is not unusual! I was trying to do the 200 squats thing as well last winter. However you will benefit. I was shocked how much my fitness came on both in terms of running performance and recovery times from hard sessions / events last year and I'm already getting stronger again this time after an autumn of very low key 'tick-over' work. Have faith
Thanks chaps. I'm not despairing yet, just knackered! I've got an appointment with the Joss Naylor Challenge May Bank Holiday weekend.
club night, 8 X 50O metre reps at around 1m25-30s wind assisted!! (its was blowy, i didnt have wind :p ) feeling as strong as ever, roll on sundays xc, on home turf :-)
BG leg two on a perfect winters day!

looks good. I've "just" got in from a 14 miler over Bleaklow. conditions were difficult, at times we could actually see our feet, some times we found a rock to stand on and occasionally the thick clag thined enough for the ground to appear. very slow going. thankfully the wind kept off but the navving was as hard as it gets. Marvin and 2 other peninne runners shared the trip, our last recce for the HPM. please please please either freeze hard or be very sunny for the next 2 week
Just back from a little 4k cross country race at work.
Came 2nd, legs still feeling battered from the Wadsworth trog!!
Glad of the mid-week running for a change!
5.5m to work, 8m home, off for 3m trot with dog now, feel good today:confused:
17.5 miles with a quite astonishing 303ft ascent. And most of that would have been hopping over stiles!
15th 12 mile walk
16th 11 mile run
17th 5 mile run - headtorch
Just forcing myself out of the house for 16 miles along the Sandstone Trail. Sometimes you just know it's supposed to be a duvet day. Really really not looking forward to this...
12 beautiful miles of trail running, first few up disused walkway, into and through the magnificent Castle Eden Dene ( as featured on secret britain not so long back ) and back along the cliff tops of the East Durham coast, done at an easy pace, Eerielly still and quiet too :)
About halfway up Skiddaw, didn't go to the top as it was late. Was with hubby so kept going ahead for a bit then running back to him! First proper incline of the year! More tomorrow.
Quick blast this aft, 3.7miles 1120ft climbing 7mins off pb. Fourth run this week and legs are ready for an easy weekend.
90 min spin class with 3 x sub-7-min miles either side to get there and back. My own little duathlon ...
Calder Valley Round yesterday. 3:20 for 16 miles and approx 4000 feet. Clag down big time for second half. Enjoyed my first run out after the virus.
