It sounds daunting until you discover that they serve beer at the checkpoints, truly a race for heroes....can't wait

Can confirm that Mrs.C is available for selection for PBR, we have a full squad again.
Wahey! a Full Complement!
Nick - I've PM'd you...
Amex - I PM'd you too about Sunday, but that has been superceded by my plan to have Friday off work for a hilly jaunt i.e. no running for me over the weekend
I have now started to think about this
Couple of questions
Mass start at 2.30? will that mean we all start in one go regardless of team position?
if so i don't need to recce the first 100 m or so as i will be able to see which way everybody goes!
Mr B Nick if the Masterbater can not find you a pony vest in a colour you find yourself attractive then i sir may be able to help you!
Antispantysally will you ever learn we will never go away simply because no one else will have us-this pony for one has raced every weekend this year i keep seeing you running off from me xxx in fear of a real race
Daz not got PM
Thanks Amex. I'll let you know if I need your outfitters services. Daz, you beat me to the PM.
I've just plotted PBR leg 4 on Tracklogs, copying the official route exactly (there are so many long ways round that are ripe for short cutting by anyone who might lack a scruple or two). The distance comes out exactly right at 5.5 miles and the ascent is 867' (114' more than stated). I trust Tracklogs implicitly. I wonder if that under-estimation of ascent applies to the other legs? (Not that it matters really; I just get on with it and take whatever comes.)
Turbo Tom - please could you PM me your email address, Thanks
(or if anybody else knows it...?)
Right! I'm about to sound dumb! Fell Ponies...I take it they're a sort of 'national' club rather than from a certain town or region. A chap on here started them, I know not the reason? Could I have a very brief outline of thier raison d'etre, as it where!! As my curiosity is perked!!
Cheers!! :)
Sorry Daz, im going to have to drop by the looks of things, having realised that im at uni with all my fell gear (cag, etc) at home, exams on friday and saturday with no way tto get back...working on it though
[email protected]
Tom - what bits of transport are you struggling for?
fjell guy - raison... ? er, no! just etre!
tell you what - if you take Tom's place on Leg 4 of the PBW Relay, you can find out first hand what it's like to be a Pony! :)
[vest supplied - choice of colours!]
I want to run but im short of all mandatory gear atm....so cag, bottoms, bumbag, map, whistle, compass......if I can get them im in
Tom - if it's just kit you're short of, I'm sure we can round up some for you to borrow
are you OK for all transport though? (Nick can help on the day)
No membership, no regional base, no records, no rules, no subs, no nuthin'.
(Antisocial would add 'no brains, no talent', but he's just jealous and loves us all really.)
The more the merrier. Sense of humour and liking for beer an advantage. Just buy a vest from Amex and you're in.
euph & merrylegs - I've just emailed you about PBW Relay
Tussockface - will you be there in any capacity on Sunday?
Afraid not.
Soz, Daz.
thinking of giving my purple vest it's first airing at Winter Hill on Sunday
no chance of my being confused with any Borrowdale racing snakes
any other Ponies likely to be in attendance...?
Have a good race Daz and wear your purple with pride. I'll be up there too giving mine its second airing. It is only black though and I'll be a day early (Anglezarke Ambling).
difficult to make out in the clag, but proof of my purple vest's debut:
Attachment 5713
Large purple Fell Pony splashed across p50 of FRA Spring edition.
As you may or may not have noticed, I am planning a BG attempt on 25th May; 18.30; clockwise and a 23hr schedule. Got quite a bit of support on side already (Cheers Mrs. C; Auld Ken and whoever I may have missed... you'll know who you are) but if anyone wants to join us, let me know.
Details and plans are on the Macc forum (see below).
Looking forward to a reet sociable day out:)
Cheers
Good to see 3 Fell Ponies in the TWA start list
[does that mean we'll have a "team" out? :w00t: ]
Best of luck LR. I'd have turned out but I will be on Jura then
4 Ponies plus an ex-Pony at Blubberhouses today: MultiT, Old Un, Ady and me, together with the omnipresent Chris Jamieson.

with 2 Fell Ponies teams already in the Old County Tops entry list, anybody fancy joining me to make a 3rd...?
any other ponies on calderdale tom ???
bloody hell it'll be like looking in a mirror then !!!! see you in the morning then steve , ill be the other "healthy, vertically challenged stream lined topped " pony :D
You always say next year!!!! My first outing on fells for sometime today, did Leg1 anticlockwise with him off the tele (who has been off fells for two years) and we got around unscathed. Bumped into a mate called Barry Dunn on the slopes of Mungrisedale common then met up with Andy Kitts (Derby Tupp) at Caldew crossing, great stuff.
So DJ might join you next year!
Good to see Mr Foster and oldun keeping the fell pony end up at Calderdale. Steve, you earned ya Guinness. Good man. Hope to see you lot soon. Rice pudding boy will be kicking about at TWA next week, only as a spectator/jogger, hope to see a few more old faces, could the Master, Amex, Mr Foster and Moorlander make an appearance?
Whay hey, i mean Why aye, RPB's back. Britnick was also keeping the Fell Pony end up at calderdale marra. Mrs C. was a Kryptonette but still a pony at heart.
No TWA for me, planning a long training run next weekend to make up for the fact i can't play out the weekend after at the Fellsman or do a BG support cos it's the Mrs. Birthday. OCT will be round soon though. Enjoy your speccy jogger day Karlos:thumbup:
Good to hear you've dragged your old bones back onto the hill Mr RPB. I'll be at the Anni Waltz so hopefullywill see youat some point
The Tussockmaiden made an appearance in her Pony vest at a trail race in Luxembourg today. Sounds like she went well, and I'll post results and photographic evidence if / as they become available.
She'd reccied part of the course last week and found her way barred by a locked steel door set into a rock face. Today it was opened, and 1k of the trail turned out to be through a tunnel. She was surprised to pop out just down the road from her own flat.
