Finally finished working, had Glory on in the background most of the way. Gonna see it out before going to bed. Bloody great.

Mama.
One or two scares, rubbish ending.
The Man with the Golden Gun. RIP Francisco Scaramanga...
'The Man with the Golden Gun. RIP Francisco Scaramanga...'
Seconded, although to me it's RIP Lord Summerisle, by all accounts a great bloke.
ten past midnight on Film4
new print of Tarkowsky's "Andrei Rublev"
I Daniel Blake, bleak but what a great film and after trying to help someone in Daniels predicament a great illustration of the sometimes ridiculous hoops that some folk who find themselves down on their luck have to jump through
In a far lighter vein, I took my three grandsons (7, 9 & 10) to see "Cars 3". They giggled all the way through it. Excellent escapism.
I've never seen a Star Wars film but, May the 4th be with you! :)
And also with you. Sorry, the CoE schooling in me coming out there!
Just finished the Netflix film 'Pele'. Guess what it's about. From there, went to Baggio and then went down a 90's Italian Football rabbit hole, and re-watched the excellent 'Gazza's Italian Diaries' on YouTube.
Bullitt.
One of the great things about movie steaming services is you can revisit old favourites as well as catching up on the new stuff. Being an old petrolhead, I always used to like Bullitt for the iconic car chase, the soundtrack and McQueen at his coolest. But, watching it last night I was also struck by its progressive, sympathetic treatment of women and black Americans. There is a wonderful moment where McQueen and Georg Stanford Brown, playing a black hospital surgeon, exchange knowing looks when the oily Robert Vaughan tries to get a different doctor assigned to the case. Its a fleeting moment but it says so much, especially now our senses our heightened to the BLM issue. My respect for McQueen is even higher. Its hard to believe this was 1968 but perhaps its a reveal of the sympathies of those making the film. Its a moment 50 years ahead of its time.
No Time To Die.
I believe French movie tradition has the appropriate term.
Fin.
Watching 14 peaks for the second time. So amazing!
any crampon recommendations?
No crampon recommendations but watched the film on Saturday. Excellent viewing of an incredible record that really could be a reset on what is thought possible in terms of mountaineering records.
One thing I hadn't realised is that Nims had taken "that" photo on Everest. We were only talking about how wrong the scenes of BC and the queues up the glacier were beforehand.
Sad to hear that Sidney Poitier had died... To Sir, With Love was a classic.... and i really liked The Bedford Incident as well.
A man ahead of his time. One of my all time favourite movies is In The Heat Of The Night. His interplay with Rodney Steiger is just sublime....both actors at the top of their game pushing a very daring agenda for the times. RIP Sidney.
