Re: Edale Skyline Fell Race
Thanks for the timely call on this> it must have been gut wrenching to make what in the end was probably the inevitable. I can tell from afar ian what a massive amount of effort you have put into this supported by your colleagues and I imagine that effort has been immense during the past couple of days. So, thanks to you all at DPFR for that. I hope it can be held sometime later this year and we are still able to have the cracking day out we were looking forward to. By the way its even snowing pretty heavily here in Nottingham which is quite unusual, god knows what the plateau is like!

Re: Edale Skyline Fell Race
Just a thought for the FRA. I was and I guess others were banking on Edale as our long counter. I cant get to Wasdale due to other commitments. Does that mean our champs is over before its even begun?
Re: Edale Skyline Fell Race
I live near Stockport and have just got back from a 2 hr run, brutal conditons out there. The driving snow was really hard on the face and the couple of "back" roads i crossed were in very poor conditions.
Really sorry for all the organisers and entrants.
Re: Edale Skyline Fell Race
I pulled out yesterday and let the RO know - what will happen to my entry if the race is rescheduled? - I realize the RO has other things on his mind at present! And from here it looks like a good call to cancel - shame about all the work involved.
Re: Edale Skyline Fell Race
Gutted, but can normally see Kinder from my window and there is no chance of that today with cloud and blizzards! Excellent updates and timely decision for everybody. Thanks to RO and volunteers who have keep us fully informed throughout.
Re: Edale Skyline Fell Race
I came over Bleaklow this morning and the wind and drifts were fierce - apart from that the Woodhead road between the A628 and A57 was completely blocked by drifts so it must be even worse in Edale.
Re: Edale Skyline Fell Race
Got to about half a kilometre short of where Rushup Edge meets the road and stopped by 12 ft high drifts.... real slog to cover 13 km... don't reckon even the top guys would have made the cut-off.

Re: Edale Skyline Fell Race
Very sad not to be racing our first Skyline but cancellation more than understandable given the circumstances. Also very much appreciate the RO's efforts to keep everyone up to date with information throughout the past week, organisation has been stellar so huge thanks to Ian and co. for that.
Just the small matter of what to do with all the race food now - peanut butter cups and jelly babies for tea...
