9 mile steady xc run in rural Northants, looking forward to a couple of days in the lakes tomo and Wednesday with beer rehydration
06:30 20min ride to work in bright sunshine and shorts, after work 50 mins 900ft mainly steep damp cobles (nightmare sloppy) in strong wind and downpour!!! That's about it now till Fairfield.
20.5mile, 2hr15/16. Windy in parts. Took it easy first 15, kicked on a little bit last 5, wasnt stopping at the end which was the most pleasing bit about the run :) didnt eat or drink anything on way round, although I had 2 pints of guiness an hour before I set off, seen me right :) Came back to learn of the tragic news of the death of the cyclist, wouters, on the giro, tragic makes you appreciate how lucky we are to be here doing what we love RIP WW
Christ Rev ! You & your Guinness before a run ! And then nowt over 20.5 miles ! You're a machine.
9m club run last night in just over an hour, including a mega hill at the 5 mile point. Felt good and pushed hard. Nice to feel strong on the hill again
10mile, 58mins, steady start, fast tempo in middle, eased off last 2 mile, one of those days when you feel you can run as fast as you can forever, if only we knew how to bottle that feeling, roll on Edinburgh..... :)
10k tonight in 47mins ish, not a bad effort for an easy run after a hard session last night. I'm with you rev I'm having one of those days, it was so hard to back off and avoid pushing too hard (track session tomorrow).
Another tough session today. Track session with the club, 1mile warmup/warmdown with 6 x 4min efforts at 5:35 pace in the middle (2 mins jog recovery). Bloody knackered now but seems I'm getting faster :)
Toiling today, 15.2 miles with 3500ft ascent. Lots of rough ground, which I'd like to blame but really I was just having a bad and dehydrated day.
Reasonable week though, 43 miles with 10700ft. Looking forward to lots of toiling next week focusing solely on endurance, on both feet and wheels
Hill reps at Box Hill.
It's 250m up steep steps, 50m down the other side to get a quick threshold burst back up, then back in the oppo direction.
2 x 5 reps, all ran - each rep taking about 13 mins from bottom to top and back to bottom.
14 miles this morning round the Leeds country way, Ebor way and Harewood in 1hr 50. Had a crap run though, needed the bog from about halfway (I'm sure you all wanted to know that) and couldn't relax, got cold in the wind and just overall felt a bit poor. Still, the distance is now in the bank so to speak and I have had a toughish training week so not entirely a surprise. Feeling better after a few coffees and some grub though :p
First run today after Fairfield race on Saturday, legs still felt sore descending
Still no pain and all that.... Managed a steady 8 miler with 1900ft in 85mins.

2 miles front crawl in the pool last night. 9 mile club run from Skipton tonight up Sharp Haw (?).

Hi Rob, I'd be very interested in a route description, as this is my favourite long run training ground. In return, I might be able to suggest a few useful bushes for disappearing behind along the way.
[QUOTE=Alexandra;411569]Plenty of bushes in the Eccup/Harewood/East Keswick sections of the LCW & EW - or so I noticed last Friday :)
Today -just under 2 hours from Cow and Calf starting out by heading west taking in Swastika Stone then up to High Crag from Pipers Crag, across the marsh to the Buck Stones then along to the trig point & 12 apostles before hitting the main track along Burley Moor then back along Ebor Way from Birks Crag.
Nice and quiet up there
17 miles with 4100ft ascent, very very very easy paced. Did 10 before hooking onto the club run, then sauntered back after parting company on the hill.
Opted out of the club run last night. Went up onto Bingley & Baildon Moor for a fast 8.25 miler. Some lovely fine, cooling drizzle just shy of 12 Apostles. Got back in time for the footy too !
cycling, racing and running are really good and conventional way to maintain the health..
These exercises really helps to burn the calories..
I never knew that, may start doing some cycling, racing and running if i can find the time between cycling, racing and running!
When did you start racing?
Finding a bush was easy enough, but still felt off and it spoiled the run.
Alexandra - I ran from my house cross country to Bramhope and joined the Ebor way just off Creskeld lane, followed this down towards Weardley and branched off into Harewood, past the old Dingle farm (now two barn conversions) and back past the New Inn and the Donkey Sanctuary, through Eccup Whin, and down the Old Roman road to Golden Acre and back home via Breary marsh, Pauls Pond and Cookridge golf course. I feel I've completely abused the comma now but you get the drift :)
Vindicated this with a quality 9mile club run round Calverly millennium way last night circa 1 hour
18 minute 5k on the dreadmill this morning.
Fairfield and Seat Sandal Wednesday morning with Danazz and Daz the Slug, Latrigg fell race with Woodzy Wednesday evening.
Thursday did around 16 mile 4,500ft on and around Helvellyan taking a few little used paths, indeed i'd gone best part of 10 miles before seeing any one I could say morning to.
Painful Track session last night, did 8 x 800m reps with 200m recoveries. Ran each rep around 2:45-2:50 (5:30 pace) so was pretty done by the end.
I'm just not getting time to get into the hills at the moment, looking forward to wharfedale mara (I think) just for the change of scenery.
New 5k PB at Leeds Parkrun this morning - 17:54 :) Still only came 17th though. Winner was 15:14 :w00t:
First trot out for a month. Nine miles home from Junction 22 of the M62. Over White Hill, Rape Hill and March Hill down Willykay Clough and down the valley to Marsden. Nice, but hot. Good to be on the road to recovery.
I know that feeling of getting out after a month or two off, I'm afraid. Brilliant, if a bit of a nervous, feeling.
Ran the furthest I've run this morning - 18 miles.
Found it hard, but pleased to have done it!
Just 2.6 mile recovery run this morning with Mrs Stagger.
Trying to run yesterdays race out of the legs.
Started nice but got done by a hail storm.
A half decent week for me, totaling 50.4 miles with 12117ft ascent
Easy week this next, well until Friday weather permitting when theres a long day out planned
Great end to a great weekend with the kids and training week for me (30miles 7000ft run and17miles 2500ft mtb) , today a breezy but sunny 10miler 2000ft in 90mins.
Bit of a poor one today - was hoping to have a crack at a 3 hour round of the local trig points (loxley 5 trigs) but had absolutely no motivation or energy all day. At about 4 o'clock I managed to haul myself out of the door, only did about 6 miles (and plenty of hills) and that took an hour...
Not sure what was up really, had a decent night sleep (11pm-6am), healthy breakfast, reasonable lunch and should have loved to go out as I had school reports to write... Ah well, hopefully I'll get it done soon.
Ta... was hard work passing and staying in front of Keith and Tom S on the last descent.
As for the 5 trigd, I'd better do it soon then if I want a chance of beating Tom W's record, as you'll be quicker! I'll let you know when I'm running it if you want company
sounds like a plan
