What a terrible training run today...
It all started to go wrong when at 0330 I realised I had drank enough and the drinks had run out !! Hmmmm 0630 arrived to quick and up and at work - 1230 running, trying not to throw up and felt like I was wearing lead diving boots.
The 7.8 miles lasted forever - but it did clear my head !
4 mile recovery run last night and off to track tonight for another club session. Should be fun.....
4.9m/900ft Hill Reps, double for the dog, a stark contrast between a furry long-legged bundle of energy and a bald short-legged bag of washing:rolleyes:
Good fun though and a nice warm evening:)
Done 11m to work and back on bike as well, as always. Been there nearly a year now and only used the car for work once, that's cos it's not mine, it's the wife's!
3 mile run with 15 x 100ft hills reps in the middle. Need to find a bigger hill!
5 mile hilly run
A 2 mile run > a tram ride > a 6 mile run into work - in and ready for another teaching day by 7.45am. It's the reverse journey that'll be more challenging. All because the car had to go in for a service. Mind you, the run along the Trans Pennine Trail was loads nicer than my usual crawl around the M60!
Joey D
first run for 3 weeks due to gippy knee! Haven't been so pleased to complete a 7mile training run for a long time!! As yet no sign of a reaction to my knee injury so im well chuffed :) also wore a new pair of New Balance 101 trail shoes for the first, and I must say they felt brilliant. Trailly type run up dissused walkway and through woods, loved it :)
Well thursdays track session never happened as only 4 of us turned up, never mind. 2m warm up/down with Leeds parkrun in the middle today. PB'd in 17:49 and came 4th which was good on a slippery course. Anyone else there today? Can't wait for the Guisecliff Gallop next weekend for a proper race, parkruns are a good session but they're not exactly inspiring.
Wild run over bleaklow at 6.30am!! rain and clag but it was quite warm. Socialably joined by Green Flash and 2 others with trips out to Shelf Stones, Hern Stones, Wain Stones, Bleaklow head, Beaver wreck, Lancaster wreck, James Thorne, Yellow slacks, Glossop Low, Bramah Edge, Torside Clough, Torside Naze, Wildboar Clough, Lawrence edge and Upper North Grain(in no paticular order) Also visited the site of the "New Wreckage" Pretty certain it's fallen off a plane on the way into or out of Manchester?? about 14 miles with probably 2,200ft+? only saw 3 others out at Bleaklow Head.
Decided to run over a mix of old and new territory. Started at Clough House below Shutlingsloe then went up and over Shutlingsloe itself. Headed over to Teggs nose via Forest Chapel then from Teggs to Walker Barn. The unfamiliar bit was from Walker barn down to Lamaload reservoir then up to Shining Tor from the back. I bumped into Lantern Rouge going the opposite way before reaching Shining Tor. Although I had seen the name on the forum I didn't think I knew him. Turns out Simon and I were on the same leg of George Bate and Gerry Dewhursts BG.
From Shining Tor it was Cat & Fiddle, Danebower than back to the car via Cumberland Clough. Back at Clough house I met Dave Walker who had just been out on a short quick round.
A nice route and similar to Macc Harriers Handicap race route, according to Simon. Measures up as 13.7 miles and 2950 ft according to memory map. 2hours 45 of running 10minutes of talking.

1st of my now to be daily Ankle rehab sessions;
5mins calf stretches , 15mins wobble board, 5mins calf raises, 5mins calf stretches.
1:30 for an 11mile road run today for a change. Fancied a steady long run at a constant pace just to see how I felt and what sort of pace I can run at whilst still remaining in easy HR zone. Bit tired but otherwise ok
12.78m/1792ft up over Rishworth Moor, down Blackstone Edge and straight back up, boggy, very boggy, had to pull the dog out of one and wash her in a river.
Red hot, ran in just shorts.
8.5 miles 1200ft on Baildon & Bingley Moors this morning.
Had planned on doing more but was suffering with the heat/sun while heading from Dick Hudsons towards 12 Apostles despite having plenty of water with me. Treated myself to an ice cream when I finished - well it would've been rude not to given the van was parked right next to my car :)
55 mins over Hen cloud, the Roaches ridge then down off roach end to the stream in the woods. Turned around then back up to the trig. From the trig I run as fast as I can back to the gate on the edge of the meadow between the roaches and hen cloud. 2.16km of rock strewn pathways which requires a lot of variation in foot placement and change in direction. Was on target for a good time then turned my ankle below the upper climbing tier. Carried on albeit slightly less quickly and clocked 9mins 45s.
My ankle was okay at first but now not very happy.
Five and a half hours walk / run on the Dorset coast yesterday in glorious sunshine
That was my route yesterday Multi. I was up there around 8 a.m & sauntered over to Ilkley for a Costa coffee & a sociable read of the Sunday papers.
Bugger 7 days off running and only managed 2 miles this morning before ky ankle started again. Longer lay off running me thinks :mad:
It was one of my usual last-minute decisions as to where to run. Parked in the layby just after the cattle grid, around and over Hope hill before picking up millennium way path. Plan was to go to 12 Apostles then along the tracks to Stocks Hill before heading back but as I said starting suffering in heat!
Late run tonight methinks!
5m/900ft hill reps, lovely evening. 11m bike to work and back with bit of carrying uphill as well.
2 x 550ft on Ilkley Moor. Nice to see a curlew sat on the cairn at top of 2nd climb
11.25m around Ilkley Moors yesterday afternoon. Didn't bump into DT though !
4 and a bit miles racing the Vets GP at meanwood last night. Quite a fun race with some pretty technical terrain, shame they told us it was 5 miles or I could've gone a bit faster I think. 15th overall in 28:41 (I really feel I should do better at these but there are some bloody good vets out there)
Just over 8 miles and 1600 feet up and down in 1:34. From Wessenden head to Wrigley's cabin to the Sabre Wreck to the Swordfish wreck to Soldiers Lump and down the Dun Hill motorway and up to the Meteor Wrecks at Sliddens. Up the Tanky's trod to Soldiers Lump and back to Wessy head. Its nice to be back.
10 x 30 second hill reps tonight, fairly steady session only about 4 mile including warm up etc.
45 x stair climbs yesterday 1:20. Might go for 50 next time
Hill reps for me tonight..............under fire! Lad came with me with a toy gun and hid in the grass taking pot shots at me!
Made me go slightly faster, but not much:o
Threshold session on the bike last night - rode just below lactate heart rate for 45 mins. Been emotional all day.
Wasdale recce....Seatallan, Scoatfell, Pillar...walked/jogged with our lass! :) Nice day....saw 10 Peak Charity runners/walkers...and BGR attempt going up Kirkfell!!
Guisecliff Gallop today, 3.5 miles (ish) up through middle tongue and up to guisecliff top quarry and back. Struggled a bit in the heat but came 4th in 26mins (bit less than 3 mins behind the winner). Cracking weather and a good day out. My nephew came 5th in the U9's as well and my niece ran as well. Good fun. Ended up sat in the beck after to cool down which was great
A tad under 17 miles heather bashing around all the plane wrecks you can visit from black hill without crossing a public road. A tad hot and the last five miles was walked like Douglas Bader on account of double thigh cramp. Nice. Full report on Long Distance Challenge thread to come.
BG leg 3 Dunmail - Langdale Pikes and back yesterday, run out over Lingmoor fell today ( a new Wainwright for me). Stunning weekend in Lakeland
20 minutes of walk and steady run to fest the ankle. Good news it held up well. Followed that with chest, back and legs in the gym.
Just a steady 4 mile recovery run around the local park.
7 miles round the Nottinghamshire countryside. It was so so so so hot today. Not a good run! (But still a good run if that makes sense? ;) )
53 miles on the road bike yesterday, 31 miles on the MTB today and an hour running on the local hill. Was a decent breeze on the hill and plenty of clag to keep the temperature down which suited me perfectly. Good couple of days!
