Thank you both for your quick replies. Looks like I will be taking trousers, now I just have to decide whether to buy extra light ones, like those from the link.

Looking forward to this. Got my number through now (76). Just going to take this at a steady plod as I've not done anything long in a while and I've got my first marathon(!) a couple of weeks later. Nice warm-up for the Fellsman.:D
Me and the dogs are entered. They'll be able to drag me round if (or is that when) I feel knackered
Entry sent off yesterday:thumbup:
Entry in the post, this will be the first attempt at anything long for me so using it very much as a learning experience. After yesterday's long run I was thinking "what have I let myself in for?" but like most runners I have a very short memore and now can't wait!
Entry is in the post box! :w00t:
I'm in too, will be great to see you all.
I entered ages ago
and I think Livi is in too
looks like a monster forum turnout in prospect!
and me....
Me too!
And me...........We all luv Brett :D
Me too
Okay, I confess, me as well.
Should we give up any idea of running and just chat our way round?
(Actually it's not a bad approach: a couple of years ago, Stef and I talked for about 5 hours, including up Stoodley Pike, and the time flew by.)
And eat, don't forget the eating ;-)
As if....13 pieces of cake on Rombald's Stride this year, which I think was a PB.
Entry lists just updated
I am in! It will be the longest race I've ever done so should be a good day out, i am feeling up for it after sub 4 at the Hebden and good winter training. Might even ease up a little the week prior to the race.
Dan
See you there then Dan - I'm in. Fellsman prep - I have a new rucksack that needs breaking in .
I am assuming that the category for mixed (F/M) teams should be X? For some reason, we are listed as "F", although we have an "F" and and "M" next to our names (# 833).

Also, do you know if there is anywhere to leave a bag at the start (no valuables, just some food and warm clothes)? We are car-sharing, but might find ourselves arriving earlier or (more likely) later than our driver.
Yes lots will leave a bag in the primary school so they grab a warm dry layer ebfore eating etc.
Where's the best place to park for this? (Want to avoid the notorious clampers but not sure where their car parks are.)
I try to drive past the primary school, downhill and park on that road side (no idea what it is called)
pavement, stone wall and park over the wall and down a big drop into a park and I think the secondary school
Parking - our friendly clampers have the car park on Changegate opposite Edinburgh Woollen Mill.
If you park on Rawdon Road - the one that goes past the school - make sure you don't park towards the bottom where it's residents only.
The health centre opposite the school is pay and display at weekends - no clamping!
They may have the school football pitch set up for parking - heading down the hill, Rawdon Road, there is a left turn immediately after the pelican crossing down a cobbled road called Butt Lane. After the community centre on the left there is an un made road turning. If they have it open for parking there will be people to guide you in from there.
The school is open all day, you can leave bags etc and there'll be tea, coffee and some lovely food at the end
6 sleeps!
I am so excited about my first Hobble!
I managed a cheeky little reccie of the section from Tod to Heb Bridge with my (septuagenarian) mother on Saturday. How is that for commitment?
Good point, Manhar!
She enjoyed a rest at the trough at Mankinholes and a picnic at Stoodley Pike and post-walk nose bag in Hebden Bridge!
I had a ruck sack packed full of spare clothes and first aid kit!
We discussed Sylvia Plath and how much we pay for baked beans!
oh, we also had great pies from the indoor market at Todmorden!
Can anyone advise what the going is like on the Howarth Hobble...I mean is it mostly tracks and paths...just thinking of footwear for the day...cheers
Me too. I find the Roclites are slightly kinder to the feet on the Hobble.
after smugly posting that I entered ages ago, I realised that I hadn't entered at all! :o
cue panicked entry last week and it appears from the latest list that I am in PHEW!
not sure how quick I'll go - 2 years ago pottered round with a friend in 8:24, but lot fitter now so maybe sub-7:30? doubt I'll threaten 7 hours...
and yes, Roclite 315's
