This was a point I made to Darren during the race. Maybe your muscles are accustomed to your usual approach. Maybe you'd undercooked it this year. ;)

Speaking to Carl post-race, he said that according to (some) of the fastest runners of previous decades that the thinking is our lack of proper summers contributes to times being slower than previously (alongside route changes and us younguns all being a bit crap, of course) - you used to be able to boot it from Bessyboot to Esk Hause on Borrowdale (Simon Booth once recce'd it in ~2:50!), now its a boggy sapping grind.
Hi all, will write a note addressing above comments but currently drafting finishers' certificates to be printed off & signed by Joss. I will post out the remaining prizes together with the certificates.
Just to let you know I have some lost property, viz. one red Inov-8 peaked sun hat, another blue 'Hotpeak40' Inov-8 hat & a Fujifilm JV170 camera. Please can the owner(s) contact me & I will post/hand on to you.
Just to say it was a great day from the RO's point of view, the few hiccups with the start - & prizes - successfully overcome. Thanks to all the wonderful helpers who pulled things together for me, Mandy Goth, Lisa Parker, Gareth Little, John Rae, Ian & Brian Finlay & Chris Roberts with the timing system plus all of the marshals & of course Joss & Mary at the Greendale drinks station.
Cheers for now, Richard

Hi All,
Just starting the annual request for helpers for Wasdale - we need...
Registration helpers (half an hour in the morning before the race would do)
A few marshals - one early check point (finishing about 2.30 PM back in the valley) and one later in the day
Sweepers - if anyone fancies a run out but not the full course this would be very useful - going from one checkpoint to the next after the cut off to make sure we know who went missing where...
Contact details on the CFRA website here http://www.cfra.co.uk/index.php , or reply on here.
Hope everyone's training is going well.
TTFN, Will
Hi all, I have already put out a request for some missing results from various CFRA fell races on the CFRA website, but here I thought it might be worth asking if anyone holds a copy of the 1987 Wasdale results? or might know of some kind soul who could scan or photograph a copy & send to me at :-
[email protected]
I am trying to collate all of the Wasdale results going back to 1972 in digital format (most of the pre-90's races are only hard copy) so that they can be preserved for anyone curious enough to want to dig around the historical side of the race.
I know that the '87 race was won by Billy Bland - again - & was wondering if anyone might have an e-mail address or some such for either Billy or perhaps Anne Bland or anyone else who might have retained a copy?
Thanks in anticipation, Richard Eastman
Cal/Richard/anyone - did the 1987 Wasdale result turn up anywhere? CFRA website still not got it and it is noted in Fellrunner as missing result. [Even winning time would be fine by me actually]
Cheers
Steve
Finlay Wild on the start list for Wasdale tomorrow.
Any chance he could get close to the record...?
I suspect he wouldn't be there if he didn't think so.
