Enough here (Tameside - 250m, Roe Cross, Hobson Moor) already to sledge and snowboard on with the girls before tea. No photos I'm afraid.
More fun tomorrow no doubt.
Yeah, bucketing down here at the moment, a bit dark and dingey, and the snow is really fine, being blown and drifting all over the place. Bleaklow should be amazing, might go up there later for a laugh.
Or maybe tomorrow morning.
It really is a "take goggles" type of thing going on.
Nothing like yesterday on Kinder though.... Proper Bluebird day

Not even covered the fields yet in Stainland. Can still see the grass poking through.
A load of news readers and weathermen gone searching for a story.
Not even enough to go sledging.

A couple of inches on the Beacon. I blame the cold :o:o
Was out in Wasdale yesterday and it was quite clear, light dusting that had iced over from about 1000 feet on Seatallan and middle fell too, the pike/lingmell/scafell looked pretty thick with the stuff as was much of the high ground round to Pillar. Scoats was clear(ish), Haycock had quite a bit, the screes/ whinn rigg etc were clear too. May be a bit worse now though. Off up the old man in the morning so i'll report back when I get down.
Oh and we ran the path from back of Seatallan to haycock in crusty snow, for most of the way there was nothing on the ground then all of a sudden we hit 2 pairs of footprints (looked like Inov8) in pots of ashness which appeared from nowhere. Anyone out there with a helicopter ?
Coming down heavy in Harrogate. Might be testing out my Yaktrax tomorrow!
Went out in the snow today, it was a nice day until someone reversed into the front of my car. Still...

Just had a great weekend in the Lakes. The snow seems to have hit the SE Lakes mainly, & we've been staying at the chalets at Hartsop, just north of the Kirkstone Pass. We (family) arrived at about 5:30 on Friday, after an abortive stop at Pete Bland's looking for new fell shoes. I ran up Gray Crag by headtorch, & the snow was great running up the north ridge - or rather running down as it's much too steep to run up, for me anyway. A bit of ice on the track above Hartsop, but no ice on the hill itself. Yesterday 4 of us drove over the pass to Troutbeck, parked up & walked all day, over Wansfell, Troutbeck Tongue, Sallows & Sour Howes. When we started, little of it had snow on, but in the end we had about 4 inches fall on us, without the wind that was driving friends off the higher fells further north. It was a great day in the hills. We got down to the road at Troutbeck expecting the pass to be shut, & to have to drive round the long way, but the road was so bad there was no escape from Troutbeck without a 4x4, even down the valley. We begged a lift two of us, including my daughter (14) from a 4x4 driving round to Ullswater via the M6, & two of us walked across the pass in the dark in the snow, trying to leave mobile phone messages once we were high enough up. We got back to Hartsop about 9, the others turned up shortly afterwards, then I ran back across the pass this morning to get the car, meeting the gritter on the way. I drove back the long way round! Another victory for microspikes: wore them all day yesterday & across the pass this morning. Best thing I've bought for years (the Splatchette had a pair too)
