6 mile hilly road race, still struggleing but light at the end of the tunnel? took out the rest of the stitches tonight.
7.4 miles 1200' lunchtime run in local hills.
10 miles 500 undulating feet. steady pace but the last few miles hurt..
14mile, 3,600' over Skiddaw and Gt Calva and back to Keswick via the terrace path. :)
A dry 26 mins headtorch trot with the vibrams last night :)
Long hill reps with club last night, about 6.5 miles in total. Hard after the weekends exertions!
18 min 5k followed by a mile in the pool.
Treadmill warrior today 5 miles in 35 minutes or therabouts, plus exercise bike and core work.....bit of weights as well
Cold, wet, boggy, windy and misty run on Rombalds moor, just over 9 miles. Got lost in the mist whilst off piste at one point, luckily my Garmin Forerunner saved the day and I could retrace my route.
4.4 miles with the dog this morning, mainly towpath. His second run (4 months old) & he seems fine with this sort of distance, still frisking around till we got home again. Not enough for me though: headtorch run on Helsby & Frodsham hills coming up this evening.
45 mins on Turbo Trainer, steady effort. Had intended to follow it with a session in the pool but I wussed out.
I did 14 m over Skiddaw and felt tired setting off. I've been doing a fair bit of leg work in the gym at work, tho not much running. I did ok but not as much as I'd wanted. Made me think about getting a few more 'wussy' rests! Better getting the hilly runs in now, rather than knackering myself elsewhere. Yoga or wee jog on the treadmill today I think, rest tomorrow...or yoga! Rest for longish flat run Saturday. Then rest fot couple of back-to-back hilly efforts Wed/Thurs. 'Wussy' rests are important so I get the best out of my hilly runs!! :)
5.5 miles 750' climb, lunchtime run all on road today.
Nice trail run to the South of Swinsty, muddy as hell in places. Route here: http://connect.garmin.com/activity/141138340
Some nice little ascents/descents to keep things interesting, watched fantastic sunset! Pilates session in evening, admired instructor's bum*.

Glorious day up on the Peaks. Mist lifted by 9:00 and by half 10 the sun was shining.
Did the 16 mile,3400 ft Kinder Trog route. Steady 2 hours 55 inc. a couple of short stops,1 to admire the view and the other to fall over near the Downfall.
my last runs befor the trigger, time to start my taper..!
this morning 5 miles 600ft early doors back by 8.45 nothing hard just trying to loosen the legs.
this afternon a gentle plod up to bleaklow and back to remind myself of the route and the conditions underfoot.
only 5 flat miles on road but it just nice to be able to post on here again now my broken foot has cleared up. now to get off road :D
Went to a funeral in Ingleton at 11.00 am today (now yesterday). By 14.00, apart from a sharpish breeze, the sun was cracking the flags, from a cloudless azure sky. Drove to Ribblehead and did our Bowland Bats circular route over Whernside - under the viaduct, Gunnerfleet Farm, Ivescar Farm, Broadrake, Bruntscar then 3 Peaks Cyclo Cross route over the summit and back to Ribblehead. Quite a bit of ice about, particularly on the slabby descent that had been in the shade for quite a while by then. Keeping off those slabs saw me running on some very frosted sedge; I slipped and and instinctively tried to 'brake'; right calf cramped up badly and I spent about 10 minutes laid in the damp frosty sedge, waiting for the cramp to ease and wondering if I was going to be benighted there; got very cold but soon warmed up once I was moving again. Summit was cool but some fantastic clear views. Whilst descending the N ridge, I met a quite portly young backpacker carrying everything bar the proverbial kitchen sink; he had walked up from Dent and was intending to camp overnight at the summit ... brrrr! Was nicely dark as I returned to the viaduct; was carrying a headtorch but got away without using it!
20 miles this morning with 2 mates, started at about 6:30 in Horton and ascended Pen-Y-Ghent with headtorches, freezing cold but fabulous sunrise when we summited, back down to Horton, jumped in car and drove to Ribblehead - absolutely freezing there, must have been -4 at least. Ascended Whernside by the long steady footpath, very tricky descent due to ice as wheezing donkey describes above. Mate fell and got a nasty knock to his knee but soldiered on to Ingleborough, summited and ran along top ridge, then down again to Ribblehead via the quarry, back to car by 12:00. Great day, great training!
Up to the Withins (old pub, not the ruin) and back down Slaughter Gap. Just under 5 miles (700ft) in glorious sunshine on crispy ground. Stunning. Felt ludicrously easy....must have been going too slowly. Passed another runner on the road at the top and saw a crow trying to harass a Peregrine on the way down.
Stuck indoors today with a little boy who has a very bad cough, but loving the stunning day in Ambleside out of the window - red sunset now over Loughrigg. Thanks everyone for sharing their training runs today, very inspiring. So I've made good use of the afternoon, fitting my Three Peaks training plan into the diary and booking lots of days off for all those long runs. Bring it on!
Nice little run out, 6 miles 1500ft. Effortless running which bodes well for tomorrows long run:thumbup:
16 miles 2670' Sometimes the iced bogs held my weight and sometimes they didn't but the Sealskinz socks held up fine though
It's going to be a stunning day tomorrow so am off for a run on the Carneddau from Aber. Can't wait, so better get to bed. There's a chance of a temperature inversion tomorrow, so MUST not forget the camera. :-)
10 mile recce of tracks about our house on Solway plain. Not much hill work, but plenty mud and water on those back lanes. Nice!!
5mile run this morning takes my total this week to 50 miles with around 7500ft ascent, feeling great. Amazing that just over a week ago I was recovering from shin splint pain and having to rest a week. Shows what a difference a new pair of shoes can make. Motion control shoes are really not worth a damn, neutral or flats all the way from now on
5.6 miles 720' climb on my road route today clockwise for a change. The fifth outing in my Saucony road shoes (neutral) and my feet feel nicely bedded in them now.
A gorgeous run on the Carneddau this morning, 13 miles an 3800' from Aber up to Foel Fras and Carnedd Uchaf and then over to Wnion via the Beras and Drosgyl. Wild horses all over the show. Clear as a bell - lovely!Attachment 5535
27 miles, glorious weather. Couldn't wish for better weather for the weeks long run
Short one with dog, freezing, clouds not lifted all day.

Very eerie Steve (the weather, not the dog)
