Good luck all, missed it again this year, next year it is :)
Ah, so its 3 peaks time again. I just decided on my tactics on the day - If start slowish I think I can do 4.30 relatively comfortable and if I start semi slowish I am hoping to do 4.15 without too much pain but what's the fun with such 'Mourinho' like negative tactics.
So, in order to have any change of a sub 4hr finish, I am therefore going for a fast start up Pen Y Ghent (Sub 40) and then try to push on to Ribblehead (60min -1.40). the rest of the race will take of itself depending how I feel.
I will most likely be dying up Whernside and Ingleborough and end up with a very uncomfortable 4.15-30 finish but I know that I don't have the speed to make up any time lost in the early stages so a positive fast start it is.
I have tried this tactic the last 3 years and I failed miserably twice but 2009 was a success.
Anyhow regardless of the time, 'its win or lose, on the booze' for me. Looking forward to that beer after the race.
Target one, to beat last years woeful time (5.06)
Target two, to beat 5 hours.
Target three (I think a bit of a long shot, but we'll see) 4.30
Or if turns out rather too warm, target zero, make it off PyG in one piece :)
Good luck LiamM, hope you get No. 3!
Good luck everyone else too. I am almost inspired to have a go myself next year ;)
Hi there, looking forward to my first attempt with trepidation, noticed the beer tent last year and wondering how long the festivities go on for?? do some make an evening of it? can't find any details on the site other than a prizegiving. the thought might spur me on on the final stretch
I'm after 3:45 but will settle for sub 4 hours. I'm hoping the weather ain't too warm for saturday
got to be aiming for 3:30 ish this year fingers crossed it all goes well on the day!! Looking forward to the beers afterwards, its going to be tough going underfoot!!
