Re: Three Peaks Fell Race
Scared now first Three Peaks Race!! I think i should stop watching the videos on the net!
Hoping it all goes ok as I have been off for anout 4 weeks with an injury from my first Ultra....fingers crossed.
Students from my school are walking the peaks too so I told them they have to give lots of support and cheers - and sweets too!
See you all in the morning

Re: Three Peaks Fell Race
People seem a lot more prepared than me, with kit ready and everything.. I've only just put my kit in the washing machine! Hope it dries in time...
Good luck everyone else!
Re: Three Peaks Fell Race
Will be jogging round this as prep for fellsman, over training has led to a b out of tiredness that has affected my training the last few weeks, a 5 mile run tonight was partly walked so it will be interesting tomorrow.
Good luck all.
Re: Three Peaks Fell Race
I, for one, am not looking forward to a strong head wind through Sulber Nick for the last 40 odd minutes from Ingleborough to the finish. It will quite negate the bonus of the downhill bit.
Re: Three Peaks Fell Race
I've spent today preparing by replacing two wishbones on my car. Ideal prep for a demanding race :w00t:
Getting twitchy now, kit packed (ish) and all ready for the morning (ish). See you all there.....
Re: Three Peaks Fell Race
Does anybody know what is available at the drinks stations? Is it just water or are there energy drinks? Do you have to carry your own bottles to refill or do they give out disposable bottles? Been a bit disorganised and just starting to get my kit ready now and given reasonably warm day, it would be good to know what drinks I can get.
Re: Three Peaks Fell Race
From the race website:
Drinks
Drinks will be provided at the valley checkpoints but, if you prefer your own brew, place your suitably labelled container(s) in the boxes at race registration before 9.30 am. They will be transported to the checkpoints for you. Refreshment vouchers value £2.00 will be issued at registration and may be used at the pavilion on the field. Toilets are available on the field and in the centre of Horton.
Otherwise you get what you're given.

Thanks - but I had seen that on race website. If they are giving out energy drinks it saves hassle of sending them to checkpoint. Equally, I don't want to carry unnecessary water if they are just giving out disposable bottles at Ribblehead/Hill Inn. I've enough to worry about in just getting round tomorrow after BBQ/drinks today without thought of getting dehydrated on the race !!!
Re: Three Peaks Fell Race
It's a fell race (well, more of a trail race with 3 big hills), so no energy drinks or disposable knick-knacks.

at High Birkwith and Sulber Nick there is water in plastic cups tho you could probably stop and fill a bottle
at Ribblehead and Hill Inn are just any drinks you send ahead at the start
