Re: Long Tour of Bradwell
Having not done this before how do the finishing times compare to those for high peak 40?
Also when it says food and water does that mean enough to get through most of the race or can you get away with small bottle and a snickers and then just eat biscuits around the course? Hopefully the latter
Re: Long Tour of Bradwell
I did 6.43 last year and think my time for HP40 is 7 hours dead.(I had a for me very good run at LToB tho)
They will have plenty of water to give us at CPs. So can top up a bottle then.
I will carry food as I cannot swallow dry biscuits on a run. There may be more/better than that but best not to risk it.
Re: Long Tour of Bradwell
Cheers Karen, its 6:30 or bust then. I'll find out whether this is highly ambitious or overly conservative later.
Re: Long Tour of Bradwell
great to hear that there'll be plenty of familiar faces
Linda - you'll especially like "The Escalator" when you're over half way in and have already done 5 of the 7 big climbs!
Nick - it would be astonishing if I ever finished ahead of you on an ultra - I'm sure you'll find an extra gear if needed...
first-timers - for goodness sake take it easy until Hope - this route will bite you on the backside if you let it (voice of bitter experience :o )
Re: Long Tour of Bradwell
This will be my first. No idea how long it'll take me but there's only one way to find out!
Re: Long Tour of Bradwell
johnnyb1, from my recollection the food it minimal - biscuits at checkpoints, little or nothing at the finish. :-( Best to take some of your own preferred (savoury?) food plus something sweet in case you crash between checkpoints later on. Snickers is perfect. You'll need a couple of drinks bottles to keep you going by the time you hit the escalator and beyond up onto the edge, especially if it's hot and sunny (which it might not be this year).
Re: Long Tour of Bradwell
weather forecast is for cooler/fresher i.e. ideal for me
er... which now means I'll have no excuse for not going sub-8... :w00t:
Nick - hope your calf is OK come Saturday morning - I'm predicting 7:44 for you! ;)
Re: Long Tour of Bradwell
I turned my ankle last night so can't run the LTB. The organiser can't refund my fee. If anyone wants my entry and can liaise directly with the organiser its yours. I don't know the etiquette with name changes but I'd rather not see a good entry go to waste. DM me for details. Good luck.
Re: Long Tour of Bradwell
can anybody confirm that the B6049 road in from the Great Hucklow direction is clear now?
Re: Long Tour of Bradwell
BBC travel news just says roadworks/water mian and temporary traffic lights? That's the way I was hoping to travel too
