Good luck to him, I think he'll do well. He'll certainly have a more supportive chairman.

Agreed

Re: Tonight's football thread
Yep. I hope he does well.Just as Warnock is maybe better suited to the Championship, it could be said Grayson is more of a League One manager.

It would be very difficult not to be more supportive than Bates.
Re Clark I'm not sure whether there is something behind the scenes. He has certainly had money to spend and not got them promotion over the last three years plus they seem to be slipping back at the moment. I spoke to a Huddersfield Town fan a few weeks ago when it seemed likely that Leeds would poach Clark to replace Grayson, he said we were welcome to him.

Blimey, from despair to disbelief, 2-0 down to 5-2 up!! Come on the Arsenal!!:w00t:

Indeed. Nice to see Tottenham have their confidence ripped apart ahead of their game with the rags who themselves only managed to sneak out a terrible win in the last minute

A win at Norwich..I think any team would take any sort of win there.. You could say Spurs will be looking for a big reaction, it normally happens. After we lost to you what happened? Arsenal against us what happened?
the loss of Parker is good.
But United have been superbly managed by Fergie this year. With a depleted team we have an amazing tally of points. Only Fergie would have a team in the reckoning at this point this year. He's been superb to keep us in the race. Big few weeks now.

You United fans must be very worried. You're scraping win after win and yet still behind us. £67million spent on top of the team that won the league last year and you're still trailing.
The premier league should thank Sheikh Mansour. If it wasn't for us it would be effectively over already. :w00t:

Of course we are worried. City have been class. They have spent £100's of millions on quality players at their peak. Look at your points total, its a record amount, yet United, and they are supposedly in a terminal decline, have all but matched you, to be honest I just think its worthy of acknowledgement.
We have spent £67million, so you say, but on young players, a lot of potential. The fact that we have scraped win after win is something to be acknowledge not mocked. Its testament to Fergie that we are in this game.
From last year we have lost VDS, Vidic but you are a vastly better team than last year, so you are more of a threat.
Despite your posturing in the FA cup game you have to admit Scholes has been superb since coming back and has justified his return. No?
he looks a better signing than Hargreaves anyway?

There is some truth in what you say Iain. Those 3 points were vital for you today, but you utd fans must now fear every away fixture based on that performance.

Unlike me, as an Arsenal fan with our form I usually fear EVERY fixture, but still can't really explain today's game!!

Don't we have the best away record in the league?

Did you see the reaction of the United players when Giggs scored the Fergie time winner, it was more than yes we did it again, there was pure relief on their faces because they know one more slip and it's as good as over. :p

Re: Tonight's football thread
Thought that was a good game - refreshing after some of the dreary England matches I've seen.
Lots of positives.
Negative for me was our left side of defence. Cole in for Baines might help - I don't think Baines is good enough.
-
Re: Tonight's football thread
Certainly no shame in losing against a much more experienced team and playing well at the same time.

Fair point on Baines but we go HAMMERED in the 1st half.
Pearce has not got a clue on international football.
Great player but enough said.

I agree. It was quite an experimental team in some places but games like this are the opportunity to do that. Under the circumstances I thought they did ok.

A lot of the grief he got when he was our manager was unfair in my opinion. We were absolutley shit when Keegan left and he was expected to sell players like SWP and by and large bring in free transfers or 1 million quid players. I thought he did well to keep us up and I doubt we would now be owned by the Sheikh if we had gone down around that time. :)

Sounds like a robbery at WHL..
3-1 to United totally against the run of play according to the updates..
Its an exciting run in now, I think we now have the easier run in after a horrible run of fixtures from which we've taken a good amount of points.. but United have dropped silly points this year.. tbf we tend to raise our game for these tough periods, its the Blackburn at home games which could lose us the title..
We're not playing that well but 3-1 away to one of the best teams in the league is a great result...

The closer you are to us is good in a funny sort of way, as it leaves no room for complacency on our part. If you come to the Etihad and play like you did today i genuinely believe we will rip you apart again.

Re: Tonight's football thread
Don't think weekend could have been any better results wise, spurs lose, chelski lose, liverpool lose (unlucky though) and newcastle draw. Come on arsenal, quite happy.... :D

arsenal 2 up already....!

Re: Tonight's football thread
It'd be quite a comeback...all credit to the Gunners for having a go.
But if Milan snatch a single away goal on the break, it could be beyond reach.
