Anyone who loves the Highlander should pick up a couple extra pairs as they are being discontinued, at least in the States. Montrail had talked about introducing a replacement to the Highlander, the Zulander, for a while, but that's a no go, too.

Hello Phil,
Thanks for your interest in Montrail and your inquiry regarding the Highlander.
The Highlander style has been discontinued. While we no longer have a shoe designed specificly for Fell running there is a new style that will come out for spring ’09 called the Mountain Masochist that would be a good substitute to replace the Highlander with. The Mountain Masochist will be avialable in a style with or without Gore Tex.
Thanks for your interest in Montrail.
Best Regards,

Just to report back Highlanders very comfy and pretty sure footed...but I'm getting slower. Anyone know any shoes guaranteed to make you run quicker?
Cheers - Raymond
Good, the only pair of these I had chewed my toes and were really unstable on ankles: as soon as they had a bit of a lean on them they suddenly snap off balance and make you crash.
