My hilly socks have corroded with the mud :eek:

Agreed! Try TK Max, they often have them cheap. I've just bought some MTB socks from Decathlon which seem okay. They're exactly the same as the running socks, except they have a different logo on the back!

Its you - its what you make of it and it depends on how good the hash is. If the trail is laid right (you follow a flour trail with lots of false ways on, route finding etc) the fast runners can get a real workout whilst the slower ones wait for them to find the way, if its done right you all finish together (ish)
