It starts from the tiny hamlet of Street off the Sedbergh/Kirkby Stephen road, the turn off is just before the Fat Lamb pub (where we hold prize giving).

A big thank you to all the runners today! We had an excellent time organising the race we hope you all enjoyed running it. Fantastic wins for P&B who took both the mens and womens titles. Well done Danny Hope and Claire Green!!

Cheers to Gary, Debbie and all the marshals. Had another good run and i think i got first Wharfedaler, a clubmate had at least a minute on me at the trig but my secret descent route put me in front at the last CP and i managed to hold the gap. Still love this race, without the route choice it would be average, but the choose-your-own-route descent makes all the difference.
Top ten summary here. Really sorry to have missed this today! Next year........ You'll need to teach me that descent Mr Brightside....

Yeah this was a cracking race - ideal weather still and clear with cracking views off the top of the Boar ... a bit of translucent haze between it and Mallerstang Edge ... lovely
As Mr B has said the free for all descent is a beaut ... I was fairly isolated on the descent with the back of the front group in the distance but I seemed to go over a couple of steepish rocky drops soon after leaving the summit plateau which surprised me because I thought it might be a grassy one all the way. Quite boggy in places but a few recent training runs around the Eastern edge of the Bowland Fells and Gt Whernside last wk have prepared me for that.
Great spot prizes after too - I bagged a 10l OMM ruc-sac which wil serve me well on a few long ones I've got planned next spring/summer so many thanks to Debbie and Gary for that and the race which had a lovely atmosphere
In case anyone out there has been wondering when this years Really Wild Boar is, wonder no longer...SATURDAY 8TH DCEMBER 12 o'clock from Street (Sedbergh/Kirkby Stephen road). Don't forget the quality of the spot prizes far out weigh the winners prize!!

I hope to be there. Will it be added to the FRA online calendar?
I have emailed FRAFixtures with the date, just have some paperwork to fill in so the calendar should be updated sometime soon.

Enjoyed this race last year. I don't suppose you have a copy of the results somewhere? Never saw them as had to leave straight after the race. I won't be anywhere near the top but it doesn't stop the curiosity:)
If you let me have your email address I will send you them.
Or if you can tell me how to attach them to the forum I could do that.

Thanks very much. Have PM'd you with my e-mail.

Hi - Glad to see this one in the calendar it was great last year. Debbie/Matt would you be able to post those results on the forum I'd be interested to see what my time was? I think its just a case of clicking on 'Manage Attachments' then 'Add Files' then 'Select Files' and scroll to wherever your file is then 'Upload Files' and 'Done'. You just have to ensure its an ok file type - couldn't see xls on the list but pdf/txt/word doc are ok. I should have attached a rough map for the race to see if it works.....
The upload attachment doesn't like my results file format, sorry. If you want any results just email me.

Here is the postcode for the Fat Lamb Inn CA17 4LL (this is where prize giving is) for the race start if you are coming from Sedbergh turn right roughly quarter of a mile before the pub and if you are coming from Kirkby Stephen turn left roughly a quarter of a mile after the pub. Street is a tiny hamlet at the foot of Wild Boar fell.
Hope this helps!

Yep, this is also on my 'to do' list. I chickened out last year, marked up my map and everything. No chance this time. Looking forward to it.
Leah
unfortunately it falls on the same day as NE XC champs, lots of fell/xc clashes this season :/
Not sure if Stagger's navigation is up to that ;)
It clashes with the Mid Lancs XC as well and unfortunately I'm team manager. But if I can find a sub I might make it. The Mid Lancs is at Kendal as well, so it would be an unusual double header in a day - you never know.
Sore Hamstring. Won't be doing owt for a couple of weeks now.
Just a quick note to remind everyone that the Really Wild Boar fell race is a full body cover and full kit race. We are heading up tomorrow afternoon to check on conditions, I will report back!

We have been round the course this afternoon and it is full winter conditions. The race is still on and it is the full course. Please be aware that there will be a full kit check at race registration. Plenty of clothes are advisable as are studs!

Liking the look of that slats! Ankle still a bit sore but could tape it if my running buddy isn't up for anything easy and local.
Thanks to race organisers and all their helpers out on the course for going ahead with this in difficult conditions. Knee deep snow made this really hard work and slashed your shins if, like me, you didn't have the sense to cover them up. There were plenty of acrobatics on the way off the top. Great fun!
It was a really enjoyable run in exciting conditions. Glad there were lots of people ahead of me making the trail. My sealskin socks meant my feet stayed nice and warm. Thanks especially to the marshalls on the two checkpoints on the summit plateau.
Myself and Gary would like to say a massive thank you to everyone for turning up today. We had a fantastic time (even Gary marshalling on the plateau!) and hope you all did as well.
I will endeavour to type the results up this week and send them to Brett...
We hope to see you all next year.
