Well done to all who finished this epic race-was hard enough following the live timing on-line and thats with two nights sleep!
Can't wait for the storys-might help me make my mind up on whether or not to enter next years event.
Well done Steve.
My minds made up about next years event (NO CHANCE)
You might be right with that Stagger- Lakeland Longs are bad enough!
Cheers Hann, Ian and Stagger, didn't enjoy it, pic says it all:thumbup:

Han, if you look carefully in the photos from the 50 you will find a shocker of me looking ready to expire before the first checkpoint....it's the one where my neck looks like Deidre Barlows....not my finest hour.
Bloody well done Steve, you looked fresh as a daisy this morning
Well done to everyone who finished or had a go at the 100 and the 50, some awesome runs, Terry the Tortiose getting under 20 hours, shaunandrachel winning the ladies, in the 100, and Fell Ponies elite winning the 50 team of two cat, to name but three. Awesome weekend:thumbup:
The only person I recognised off here was Britnick, who I recognised having read his blog on occasion! I should have written my forum nic on my number!!!
Good to see some of you chaps and chapesses over the weekend. I was envious and full of admiration as you departed, then when you began to trickle in. I have to say I did enjoy the slightly more sedate experience though. As I watched you suffer I just relived previous years to complete the picture.
200 photos so far uploaded, but I guess you will have seen them already if you ever go anywhere near facebook. There are more to come, plus a report when I can find the time.
Just read on Twitter, Terry Conway was faster to the finish from Kentmere than the L50 winner, bloody amazing, not to be outdone though, my time on the last leg this year was faster than last year when on the 50. I got lost last year:o

Hot and humid?
I didn't see any scrap metal dealers either (peddle, metal). ;)
I agree Nick, not really hot and humid. I suppose the first night was fairly warm, but this was a good thing to allow us to run without a jacket on. I would say favourable weather apart from the odd shower on Saturday. The wet underfoot conditions were the toughest changeable aspect of the race. Worse than 2010 I would say.
Enjoyed your ultra spectator guide to the race. Good stuff. Not sure I would take off someone else's shoes, he must have thought you were a true hero.
Yes fairly pleased with it. Still feel I can do the 2nd part from Dalemain better, if I look after my feet and calves better. I couldn't quite run as fluid in the section from Hawsewater to the end, it was just too uncomfortable, and as a consequence too inefficient to sustain my earlier pace. I think a pair of crushingly expensive s lab sense might be useful next time combined with compression socks, or equivalent.
Yes felt sorry for Bill on his first Ultra. He chose a tough one to start. Hopefully he will bounce back soon.
Not the best build up in the week before caught a virus so confined to house thought it had cleared up the day before (eternal optimist still feeling rough)
The night before the race slipped on the kitchen floor and fell heavily on my hip, thought thats really sore then put it to the back of my mind.
Set off beside Alan but soon thought this is too fast for my first 100 so eased right off.
First descent jogged down feeling very relaxed but started feeling an ITB like twinge down from my hip to the knee, could feel it at times on the second climb which was unusual as in the past I've only felt it on downhills/flat.
On the descent to Eskdale checkpoint pain was much worse but was concentrating on my form (this can ease ITB for me) by the time I got to the checkpoint was feeling very queasy with the pain but though just take it easy to Wasdale and see how it feels.
Pain was now constant and on the descent to Wasdale was getting massive waves of nausea/pain so had to walk the road, it was an effort just getting to the checkpoint, no option at all for me to stop there.
At first was disappointed thinking I wasn't able to ignore the pain but a week later no chance of running hip very sore and stiff, realise now it was the adrenaline of the race that made me start and ignore what was an injury that required rest.
One things for sure I want to be on that start line for 2013 this race is fantastic!
Sorry you didn't get round Bill. I checked the results the day after and realised you'd pulled out so thought something must be wrong. Better luck next year!
