Hopefully the innevitable Fellcross 2 will address the grip situation, and bring it in line with the excellent upper :-)

Oh, I must be mistaken then..... Apologies, it was an easy mistake to make after only 30 years experience....

Apology accepted, just don't do it again! (didn't realise mudclaw had been around that long!)

No they're not that bad really; several of our juniors wear them. They are a bit exciting on wet slab and rock but, as others have said, most fell shoes are. I don't rate them for steep grass or mud descents either, not compared to the mudclaw anyway. Not done ALS so don't know what the route's like.

What you seem to forget that these are professional athletes who are being paid of lot of money to run in Adidas. There's probably a good chance that the swoops that they are running in aren't off the shelf swoops, they will probably even have a softer rubber sole.

I love that phrase, perhaps if you added "my dear boy " on to the end, you could make it sound even more patronising!
tbh I doubt adidas care what the brownlee brothers wear for fell running; they sponsor them for their tv exposure, I doubt they'll be making special shoes just so they can win bottles of beer at the weekend! They'll get the shoes for free but that's probably it.
If I had free shoes, I'd probably wear them too (although I'd wear the swoops down the pub; see above!)

Re: GRIP!!! Fellcross V Mudc
I had a worn (on the sole) pair of wave harriers resoled recently, by the good folk of Lancashire Shoe Repairs. It cost twenty quid, and I now have the grippiest, and comfiest, shoes I have ever run in. All my other shoes are walshes which I also rate highly (if they can stop my vast bulk from slipping they must be good!), and I don't know how long the new sole will last but hey, for twenty quid they're a bargain!
The only down side for me was that it involved dealings with the dark side, over the border...

Really as bad as "my dear boy"...?
A special shoe wouldn't cost Adi anything.

Fell crosses were excellent, no soreness to my feet anywhere so 5*'s for comfort, they've now done over 100 miles and to be honest the uppers look brand new(with some minor marks) studs are showing only a little wear so that looks good too.
Grip has been quite good, certainly no problems on the wet boggy stuff, one bad point was they were quite slippy on the paving slabsup to Mill hill so thumbs down for that although a member of my team had mudclaws on and she fell twice due to slipping on the same path!
I've just weighed my size 10's they are absolutly soaking and covered in mud having been left out to dry in the pouring rain 550grms, dry out of the box they weigh 295. it would be interesting to compare the weights with mudclaws in similar conditions but I doubt I'd buy another pair now.
just a foot note(sorry) when they were brand new they felt abit clumpy/stiff but they feel great now.
Ps my new pair turned up this morning :)

S'funny but someone said something about Salomon runners wearing Inov8 shoes some months back and no-one named names. I'm beginning to think it's a load of cobblers.

Re: Salomon S-Lab Fell Cross
I hope the picture is wrong as the sole looks exactly the same as the "1", hopefully its the same pattern using but using a softer compound ..?

There's no changes to the Speedcross for 2013, apart from new colours, so can't be that.
