I wore mine for my winter Paddy... no blisters great grip on snow and rock..
Got a pair for Christmas. Been out twice and I love them. Very grippy even in hideous mud as you'd expect but very comfy too. Definitely a bit wider than the 315 (though I went half a size bigger which may have helped too).
My update review after 450+ miles

Nicalas, very interesting report. I'm on my second pair after problems with the sole coming away at the front on my first pair. Exchanged for a new pair with no questions asked and so far really happy with the shoe. At carnethy 5 last Saturday, Pete Bland was selling them for £72, also selling sample pairs of 300's in blue for £60, but only is size 8. They looked well smart.
I absolutely love mine. They've done 250 miles since I got them on 10th January and are still almost 'pristine' ;)

Top shoe...one of the best I've tried.
The grip is never ending, but the fit is the best thing for me, a massive difference compared to the 272's.
Had to wait almost a year to justify buying some but the impending High Peak Marathon and the worn tread on my 333s has meant I've just put in an order at Pete Blands
Interesting, I disliked the 333s as they were too tight around the outside of my foot, yet the 272s are fine and similar to my Mudrocs and X talons (i guess because they don't have the thick protective rand that the 333s have).
Disappointingly I've been getting ankle rub from mine.
Interesting, I too have struggled with some rubbing to my left heel along with another couple of clubmates, although right hand side is fine. I solved this with Inov8 6mm footbeds, seem to lift the bottom of my ankle bone just above the rubbing point.
I've been out on two training runs in these. Never had any problems with any Innov8 shoes before. After the first five miles I had a small blister on the inside and outside of both ankles and a blister on my left ankle at the back. Looking at the advice here, I used a hammer to give them a light battering around the heel cup, I took the laces out of the top hole and I wore two pairs of thin socks... Did another 10 miles yesterday, and apart from a light blistering on the back of my right ankle, they were ok. Overall I don't find them a particularly comfortable running shoe. The grip is fantastic though.
Just in contrast to the above post, I wore in my new INOV8 Mudclaw 300s over just 8 miles before completing the High Peak Marathon this weekend! They were brilliant. The only rubbing happened when I didn't tie my laces tight enough and once I'd done that, they felt comfy as anything for the rest of the event even though the majority of the course was over frozen bog, frozen tussocks, paved slabs and rocks! My ankles and knees did suffer from 42miles of unexpected hard ground but I can't think of a fell shoe that would have provided the grip needed and prevented the impact on my joints. That said, they feel much better now and I've been on a very slow 4 miles by the river in my mudclaws today.
Fitted the 3mm footbed to my 300s before the Stand Bradshaw round last saturday.
No problems at all with my left heel.
It would seem placing the foot a little higher or a little lower in the shoes sorts it out.
Christened my first pair yesterday, 12 gloriously boggy miles over Ilkley Moor and they felt very comfortable, no rubbing at all. Very impressed.
laces frequently loosening especially when wet any ideas on other lace options
never had problem with speedcross but they have different lace system which is far better
no other issue with the 300 and they have much better grip than the speedcross
Inov-8 laces are notoriously pants. I normally single knot my shoes, but for all my Inov-8's I have to do a very tight double. It's almost as if they're designed to come undone. No other laces I've used have been so bad. (I'm a fan of the knobbly laces, as seen on the New Balance MT110s and Brooks PureGrits - and elsewhere I'm sure.)
My 600 mile review is here :)
Interesting wear pattern you've got going on there! Still, can't really complain after that mileage. Amazing how well the uppers have lasted, I'll be interested to see how mine hold up, because I've never owned a pair of shoes where the uppers have outlasted the soles. So you've decided to risk the 'less durable' 265s then?
I pulled my left hamstring last November and was still running funny with it for at least the first couple of months with my 300's. I'm guessing that my funny running style, sort of hobbling the range of my left leg, may have caused the problems with my left heel. I can't recall any noticeable difference in stud wear from my previous half dozen pairs of Walshes. As for the 265's well maybe the uppers will just last as long as the soles this time :)
Tried on a pair of 300s today - very comfortable, totally different from the 333s in feel in that they are obviously lower at the heel. I need at least half a size smaller than they had - clearly there is considerable variation in size with Inov8s - I have needed from 8 to 9.5 in various different shoes.
Just checking to see if your left heal problem is the same as mine. I seemed to be wearing the left shoe on the inside of the heel when I normally wear the outside. It is so bad on the road that I can feel the whole heel collapsing inwards and pushing the heel cup inwards. I had to walk down a road today after running off a hill. Almost feels as if the sole has been glued on incorrectly and misaligned with the uppers
i thought this was just me with the 300 can i hell run on road with them i prefer my speedcross on road
No heel problems with the 300s for me - I did not even bother steaming the heels as they felt so good. I do wear 2 thin pairs of socks with them as I do with most shoes these days, and I push my foot into the shoe as far as it will go, rather than banging my heel up against the back of the shoe. There was initially some pressure on one of my little toes, but stretching it by leaving a squished up ball of paper in has solved that.
yes as you say the left more noticeable but happens both heels this also causes blisters round the achilles area on the left ive had mine quite a while now so i was putting it also down to usage not for the heel cup as never been able to run on road with or even hard packed trail as in old train line to keswick but( cant complain aout grip) no such probs with speedcross on but i cant win with salomon as these kick out on the upper mesh above little toe same place as asics road trainers
I'm about 100 miles in with my pair of 300s and generally happy with them. I had some initial problems with the back of the heel rubbing, but I seem to have solved this with a combo of steaming and a strip of gaffa tape inside the heel, thanks to suggestions from here.
But I'm now having trouble with the side of my left heel - the top edge of the shoe is rubbing my foot under the knobbly bit of my ankle bone.
Does anyone have any suggestions to solve this? Is steaming the side of the heel also worth a try? I've seen mention of using 6mm footbeds to raise the foot in the shoe, but according to the inov8 website these are fitted as standard anyway .
Ta for any ideas...
I have the same problem - wore them on last years OMM on the Howgills and trashed both sides of both ankles. This was with thicker footbeds. Same with running partner who also has given up on them.
Now only wear them for shorter runs.
*333's didn't do this. They were my faves!
Mine seem to have settled down now, it seems the shoes and my feet just needed a few miles to get used to each other! The steaming and taping definitely helped though. I've spoken to a couple of other people who have them, it seems to be pot luck, some have had niggles and some have been ok with them straight out of the box. I think they're perhaps a bit unforgiving because the uppers aren't particularly padded.
It's a bit annoying to have to endure a breaking in period, but overall I'm happy enough with them that I'll buy another pair when the time comes. Brilliant grip on the really muddy stuff, I like the stability and 'just enough' cushioning. Over 300 miles on mine now, and they're holding up well.
Love my 300's. I think theyre the best Mudclaws yet. No issues with blisters or foot shredding or toppling. Have heard good things about the 265s though... when the yellows disintegrate I might be tempted into a pair of those.
