We were out before 5am this morning. A lie-in on a Friday must be nice :closed:

Just a quick note of appreciation to Stolly and Derby Tup for the idea.
Loving this running every day business. Tis brilliant int it.
 Indeed!
I owe a big thank you to Stolly for inspiring me to run every day in September. Managed 31 runs in 30 days.
Since then I haven't run every day, I've probably missed a couple of days per month.
Some days it's very difficult to fit in and whilst I guess it would be possible to grab a sh*tty 20 minute run round Salford at lunchtime or something on those days, just to keep up the daily thing, I figure that actually, if those days where time is just too tight are the only days I don't run, then that's not bad at all really :w00t: (and it means I don't have to go for a sh*tty run round Salford).
I did try not to go for a run one Friday evening in November, and just lounge around. Hated it. Went for a run about 10:30pm :closed:
Day 43 today. Going out later for a run over the local hills :closed:
I'm still cracking on with this by the way :)
I took a day off April 1st, after my 100k.. otherwise run everyday now.. its actually easy once it becomes a habbit.
In terms of ease its actually a doddle and like you said a fixed habit, although admittedly I don't burn much rubber with my running in the same way you do Iain. All the same this I'm so far averaging 50 miles each week and over 9,000 feet.
I think I've sort of got my pre-BG tapering sorted now (which will come in useful for all my future attempts :) ) For my effort on 22nd June, I'd run something like 38 miles and 12,000 ft in the week before the week before (front loaded) and 23 miles and 3,000 ft the week before (again front loaded) with most of my runs being slow dawdles in that final week. I felt really strong on the BG day and night despite the fail and I carried on running straight off the bat and managed to rattle off a 48 miler with 8,500 feet of climb in the next week (albeit back loaded :) ).
I can't afford to cut down anyway what with the LL100 coming up
Day 53 today of my latest 'streak'
*makes note to avoid visiting Wharfedale
Day 313 for me today, not long to the year.
Dan :)
Good work Dan
Good stuff Dan. I can't remember whether I started on 21st or 22nd August 2011 so its either day 795 or 794 for me :)
The year was passed yesterday, although i have been doing 1 - 2 miles each day for the last week due to a sore knee after hammering round my Ten Trigs route last week. Its starting to get better so hopefully i can continue my streak.
Dan
Hard luck Iain. How did you break the toe?
getting changed to go for a run.. in my socks.. still ot sure but slipped off the steps and went flying down the stairs and my toe caught on the bannister.. I still went for the run but was 13 min miling.. then the next day did 10 and felt sore but thought it was OK.. but since then its been worse and worse...
Cut my back up as well..so could have been worse.. and its not a bad time for a break..
Ha, my running streak which started on or about 11th August 2011 has today come to an end, having fooked my left achilles running the Gill Garth Gallop fell race yesterday evening (absolutely stunning race by the way). I can barely walk today, let alone run. I intend to start my running streak all over again just as soon as my achilles is up and running again :)
Very impressive streak though Stolly. :)
Sorry to hear about your achilles stopping it.
Just completed a 'Stolly inspired' year of running everyday (on the 24/10/14) and I'm still going!
What's the best part?
Increased weekly mileage? No
Improved fitness? No
Satiated obsession? erm....No
The best part is that every night when I return home from work I'm no longer faced with The Question (!) of whether it's a run night or not. I'm no longer mentally negotiating with my inner-sloth if the weather is hammering at the windows or if I just feel plain lethargic. If there's a suggestion of a quibble, the sergeant-major in my head yells "Oi! You're going for a run sonny.' And I meekly obey and nearly always feel better for it.
For me, I learned at an early stage that to achieve this I had to set a minimum standard for those nights/days when it was tough for me to run and that was a min. of 3 miles or 25-30 mins of running if I was some place where I was unsure of the distance. I also made a mental agreement with myself that if I was doing the minimum then I stuck to it, even if I felt once I was out that I could run further/for longer. That way I kept my obsession in check and this helped on other 'tough' nights when I told myself it was only 3 miles and I truly knew I wasn't kidding myself!! Psychologically complex or what? But then isn't most of fellrunning 90% mental (in all senses of the word) coupled with effort and only 10 % actual ability?
Well done Mossy  This must be getting to the worst time of year for doing that kind of routine. I am lucky if I can get in two runs a week at the moment and they are usually at the weekend.
Well done Mossdog! No idea how you people do this at all!!
Its something I have been meaning to do for a while and I like the idea of 3 miles minimum as well. I am going to give a go this month and take it from there.
Yes, Go for it! It took me about 3 months before it began to feel just a natural part of my day. I was running 3 to 4 times a week before and then just slotted the shorter runs in as if they were 'non-runs' if that makes sense. I guess I'm lucky to be able to have enough time in my day for a 25-30 min. quickie :)
I tend to run 5 days a week anyway so it won’t be too much of a step up. I have time for a run every day it’s just laziness that stops me.
Christmas day could be a problem though with two young boys, visitors and the dinner to make.
