Hey Trundler, have you changed your name ?
Just noticed one of your previous comments has been updated. I presume this is to reflect your more athletic prowess on the fells :)??

It's in the hope that it might LEAD to increased prowess on the fells... :D
Heard that I'm in. Anyone else? :)
Thats my place sorted. Entry list now up;
http://www.bowlandfellrunners.org.uk..._list_2009.pdf
23 places left as 4th March.
Thanks to Mr Wheezing Donkey, i shall be marshalling with him at CP1 - and then CP 8 or 9. :).........just need to find my way there first.:o
Nice one, i'm in.
23 places left........decisions decsions!!! WD - are you gonna hurl abuse at me again if I turn up?! ;)
Too right Emmi. I'm even going to train young Al Fowler how to do it.....if he gets himself there?:D
Message from the Fiendsdale oganiser:
...Entries are now closed at 112 with a view there will be some 'no shows' on the day. A list of people who have got a place will be on the web site in the next couple of days. I am going to start a waiting list on a first come first served basis where I am made aware of people who are not running and vacating a place.
Andy Farmer
Looking forward to this one IMMENSELY! :) As I was raised in that part of the world (god's country) the Bowland fells were my first ever fells I walked on. Never raced there so chomping at the bit. Weather forecast suggests that it'll be good as well.
Magic. :p
Hope you enjoy it jodg :D
It's a pity the old course has gone as it was a CLASSIC. I still hope it may be resurrected one day.
Great conditions today for the race. The early mist was mostly gone by the time the race started. I suffered a bit on the final climb up Parlick but otherwise enjoyed my first run of this route. My thanks to the organisers and marshalls who must have enjoyed the nice weather as well.:D
Thank you Bowland - great race.
Well organised and well marshalled. :)
Thoughly enjoyed watching the suffering today, and took some pics to prove it :D
Photos not great as I was a bit chilly at CKP 1, and too busy sun bathing at CKP 8. Wheezing Donkey, Pacman and Al Fowlup in the background. We created quite a chorus of "encouragement" I felt.
Well done to Danny, awesome run, he was so far ahead it was amazing. Great run.
Oh pics are on http://picasaweb.google.com/pudgyfat.../Fiendsdale09#
Really enjoyed the race today, ideal conditions once the mist cleared. Many thanks to the organisers, marshalls and Bowland Pennine Mountain Rescue Team (my old mate Pete Watt would have loved it today, God bless him). I hope you are able to run the event next year, it's one of the best!
Oi, i'm doing Lads Leap tomorrow! You turning up Fatty Fell?
Couldn't agree more Ian! "God, you look ill!" at CP8 was the pick of the bunch if I remember correctly......... :D
Good to see you today, it's been a while. Great pix by the way bud, they're in focus at the very least which is better than many!
Really enjoyed the race, all credit must go to Mr Farmer and his team of helpers for negotiating the access rights with both EN and also Wild Bill Hickle, sorry, the new gamekeeper. Hope they now see what a good bunch we all are.
Some pics from ckpt 1 here :

Cheers, Ali :)
Bloomin' marvellous race that! Thoroughly enjoyed my first romp on the Bowland fells despite the "wheels falling off"(as usual!) at the top of Parlick. Thanks to all at Bowland etc who organised it and braved the sun at the checkpoints. :)
And good to catch up (Shaun, James) and meet new folk. 'Al Fowler' and 'Pudgy' gave me a shout at the bottom of the last climb, Dave Tait from DP the only other clubmate.
That last climb was stiffer than exepcted , "fiendish" you might say...
Really enjoyed it yesturday!
Got there quicker than i thought i would on the bike and sort of sat on the bike feeling abit out of place whilst the few people that where already there gave me some strange looks.
Eventually all the preston harriers turned up and eventually Wheezing Donkey appeared and we headed off to checkpoint 1 where Pacman who decided not to run and Pudgy and his dogs arrived from nowhere!
CP8 was fantastic! The peace and quite, the scenery and the sun just chilling out sitting in the grass waiting for the runners to appear in the distance coming down the 2nd to last decent.
Was good to watch all the different lines everyone took, i know which line im taking if i get to do it next year.;)
Met Ali at CP1, and "Are you Al" Jodg
Big thanks to Wheezing Donkey for offering to let me marshal, really really enjoyed it. Also quite enjoyed ignoring my injury for a moment and racing down parlick to the finish once the last runner was on his way down.
I shall be adding this to me 'to do list'!
Good pics from Pudgy and Ali, really capture the event and good weather.
It's time Pudgy stopped watching and got his act together and started doing some running to give the Pendle Plodder some competition.:)
I see Mapper has those same shorts on AGAIN
He will flog them on E bay in a couple of years and start wearing the other pair he bought at the same time.
Oi, I ran Lads Leap today. Though I'm a long way from being near the Plodder. And I did do some sun bathing today as well

Just found these googling.
Young Al, we gave Harry Walmsley a wave towards the top of the first climb, as we went to CP1. He's Fellhound's Uncle Harry!
Al, you met Bill Smith twice on Saturday! As you're nobbut a young pup, recounting that experience should get you a few free sherberts, in 20 or 30 years time.
Always a privilege to show a young'un around the 'homeland'.
On the old fiendsdale route....whats the best way to go from CP2 (Stream Junction) to CP3 (Langden Castle) - Do you actually go around the ruin?
For CP4 (Sheepfold on stream/wall junction)...do you follow the path from CP3, and then plummet down to the checkpoint....
...then climb back up somehow to Paddys Pole (CP6)
Young Dave Fowl Up, on the old course, CP2 is not down at the stream junction. From CP1 (same CP1 for old & new courses) you stay high and head for the fence junction (CP2) above the stile that is CP3 on the new course. From the 'old' CP2 you head N then NE to drop into a stream junction on Bleadale Water, then follow Bleadale Water down to Langden Castle ( old CP3 ). The CP was on the front of the old barn (it is still in use and definitely not a ruin), a circumnavigation was not required.
From the stile at Fiendsdale Head ( new CP5, not a CP on the old course ) drop to the sheepfolds at Arrow Bank Spring ( old CP4 / new CP6 ) then follow the stream up to the wall corner and pick a line for Paddy's Pole ( old CP5 / new CP 7 ). The old course then went directly to Parlick summit ( old CP6 / new CP 9 ). Finish as on the new course. The old course was around 2 miles longer than the new course, but had 300 - 400 feet less ascent! But it did live upto its name as the obvious line from Langden Castle to the sheepfolds at Arrow Bank Spring was an ascent along the full length of Fiendsdale to Fiendsdale Head Stile. The new course just pays a cursory visit to Fiendsdale Head Stile via a traverse of the main ridge.
Ian.
Cheers Wheezy.
If anyone fancys going round the route any time...give me a shout!
Is it going to be restricted to 100 again this year?
