Re: BG anticlockwise 22nd June
I did request no drama....but this is Brian, so I think that fell on deaf ears! Curse you tiny tracker...move!

Re: BG anticlockwise 22nd June
I still have him at the base of Gable. He's either dropped it, turned it off?

Up date from Hes and road crew, stolly and gavin are slightly ahead of schedule at Wasdale. Phew

Re: BG anticlockwise 22nd June
That's the news we want. Onwards and upwards..
-
Re: BG anticlockwise 22nd June
Great stuff. Have to rely on old fashioned updates from now on, then, i guess. It would appear that the tracker of chris K has also stalled just before Honister
-
Re: BG anticlockwise 22nd June
Stollys tracker has stalled at exactly the same spot as the one I was wearing last week on leg for Bill threw a wobbly and made it look as though I'd sprinted down to Black sail MR hut and back up again.

Re: BG anticlockwise 22nd June
Anyone know sharon macdonald? Settle? Tracker 10 seems to have gone live for a 7pm start.

Re: BG anticlockwise 22nd June
I don't know that I can bear to follow another one only to be left abandoned on some mountain pass.
-
Re: BG anticlockwise 22nd June
Umm thats not so good that Stolly's tracker not playing ball. Before anyone throws stones, I think this is the first one that has played up like this. Will have a look and see if we can spark it in to life.

Re: BG anticlockwise 22nd June
We have got Stolly's tracker working again - sent it a reset text. If in doubt switch it on and off - just nice to do it from the comfort of my home. We can see its uploading plenty of buffered data so not quite sure why it got in a tizz. Still it looks like he is coming up on to Bow Fell. Sorry for the blip in the service.
-
Re: BG anticlockwise 22nd June
http://maps.opentracking.co.uk/bg2013.cfm?n=5 is this correct? If so Chris is still on the go after nearly 29 hours!
-
Re: BG anticlockwise 22nd June
As far as I understand Chris pulled http://maps.opentracking.co.uk/bg2013.cfm would have switched his tracker off at Honister.

Good work, look to be going well, they had top nav on leg 2 from Ambrosia Kid and Moorlander will be doing the business on leg 3, willing you on Stolly and Gav.

Re: BG anticlockwise 22nd June
Good to get it back on line. I'm not sure how accurate these things are but it appears to show them turn down the Bowfell ramp having not reached the summit. Surely not! Looks like good progress being made.

Mark two reasons - the GPS updates every 90 seconds so if he could have made it to the top and back within that split it may not record it. But most likely reason is the tracker is on a pacer and they didn't go to the top.

Re: BG anticlockwise 22nd June
Actually it was pretty much when I sent the reset text so it would have taken a few minutes to reboot and lock on to a satellite.

Great, back to the tracker. My Saturday night viewing is restored!

Re: BG anticlockwise 22nd June
As a result of this we are looking to send a tracker a reset text if we don't hear anything from it for 2 hrs. Its a setting we can adjust for each event as some locations like the TERREX event we did in Scotland last year the tracker could be out of range for about 4 or 5 hrs. Arguably could reduce it further for BG's where its rare its out of range for anything more than 45 mins (pending how long people spend at honister). Should save me being awake for 23.30 hrs did that last weekend and I'm still randomly nodding off. Anyway Stolly doing good.

Re: BG anticlockwise 22nd June
Stolly appears to be approaching High Raise. I can't easily compute ACW schedules - he's about on time isn't he? Just occurred to me he'll be going down Steel Fell in the dark. That could be exciting on a mucky night!
-
Re: BG anticlockwise 22nd June
Like you, Martin. I can't compute. I keep working out how long it takes sections I'm familiar with and then trying to work out how going the other way affects it. I think he's doing good.

What are the conditions like up there?
With the 9am start the next 4 hours in the dark will be hard
I had not noticed that! The list of members viewing does not match the "count" of members watching.

They have missed the gate down to the left after crossing the stream. Real shame for the contender to do such a long route from blencathra.

You're right. That's a bit further than she needed to run.
Trace settled down now, just about at Newsham House.
