I'll be helping with some marshalling on this but coming at speed straight from work so could do with some information on where exactly in Barnoldswick the race is being held. The GR in the calendar centres on a hilltop enclosure at the end of a walled lane, where there is a viewpoint and close by some public conveniences. The area is marked as a country park and named Letcliff Hill, you would get to it by turning off the B6251. Is this the exact correct location? :confused:

Ill be there, fair way to travel though :O, my dad is also marshalling. Good race very runnable as long as you dont go crazy on the road at the start.
Yeah, there was an appeal for help on the club website and i read that the junior races were cancelled in 2007 due to lack of assistance, i've got the fuel so let's make hay while the sun shines as they say.Quote:

I think I am going to have to miss it after falling over my bike last week and bashing my knee, while clipped into one pedal (well i was opening a gate and chatting at the same time).
What is the route to and from the fell? Is it from park down Manchester Road, left past Bancroft Mill, left turn to pick up original route and back same way?
A bit of fast up hill road to a couple of fields of moor. A queuing stile where I think Anti Pants hopped over the wall last year and got some abuse. The downhill road/track . Then gradual climb of moor up to the top of the hill-all runnable for you. Then a steep down and up loop back up to the top of weets, then repeat the outward journey.

Yes, look on the best map in the world, OL21. It doesn't go past Bandcrofts. Starts about 100m up the road from the park (towards Colne) on the track/road marked as a bridleway, then cuts across to Higher View, down Folly Lane until it meets the path up to the trig.
Yeah that road leads into a bridleway good on the mtb was up there the other day, the road is the only thing that spoils this race an uphill 3/4 mile at the start and finish rite buggar.

I went to see my Grandma in hospital (totally depressing). It was her 90th birthday. Came home to drink wine, eat chocolate birthday cake and write bloody reports (it's that time of year..........again). Arrgh.
Must go for a run tomorrow and celebrate being young (ish) and able to move limbs.
Good route around the summit and back up the gully, wharfedale kickin ass as usual, nice to meet pendle plodder good luck at bucky pike at the weekend.
Yeah good race good to see you Luke, as Ady said Wilko had a stormer 3rd overall but Sam watson ran awesome for the victory after he hasnt been training for a week. My dad said sam lead the group back up the track Wilko was just a few seconds off the back.

Just a quick reminder that its the weets fell race this saturday the 9th June. Senior race starts at 2pm and junior races start from 12.30 registration is at Letcliffe park located off Manchester Road Barnoldswick. Hope Technology have provided us with two new trophies for 1st male and female. All the usual prizes for age categories. You can find the rest of the details on the FRA race calendar on the FRA website.

We have been thinking since last year about knocking the junior races on the head as last year we didn't get very many participants. I think it may be due to the bofras being the day after? Just looking to see if any of the junior coordinators come on here from other clubs in our area?
Weets this Saturday in Barlick, I know there's quite a few races on this weekend but will hopefully see a few faces there. Usual park at letcliffe park and walk to the start. Due to fixture clashes we won't be running the junior races this year but we hope to get them going again for next year. Presentation a short ride into the centre of the town at the cellar bar. If its nice we'll do the presentation in the beer garden. Usual 2pm start at the bottom of occy lane. Dry under foot at the minute so could be a fast time.
Course marked, dry under foot so perfect for a tilt at the record. Prizes all sorted, hopefully see a few of you in the afternoon.
