Simon Bailey was actually 15 seconds outside the record. Unfortunately we didn't have the previous years' results or the course records to hand (although they might have disintegrated in the rain anyway), otherwise no doubt Victoria's new record would have been confirmed at the presentation.
this looks like a right larf, can't believe i missed it i haven't been watching the race forum recently due to my injury issues. Could have recruited at least 4 cyclists to whup, one's got a habit of falling off in entertaining style :D
Peejay - the record lies a little closer to home.....
Try Arrjay ;)
Just seen a cracking bit of video of the race on the Bingley Harriers Forum......Part 1 at least! Apparently there is a part 2 anyone seen it yet? and if you have can you point me in the right direction!
The copyright bit wasn't the problem which is often the case with You-Tube.
Vimeo is by and large an excellent site but it does have a few bugs. There appeared to be one with part 2 initially which caused it to stutter and stop. I deleted it, resaved it again minus the music because it was OTT. It now appears to play okay.
I would use YouTube but I seem to have loads of probs with them.
In order to get all 3 parts of this race up in the same week I used different accounts so the easiest way to access them all is via http://snipurl.com/bingleyharrier
The only reason for music was to mask some of the rain noise etc bouncing off all the plastic covering the camcorder. I was also marshalling at the same time so apologies for some ropey footage.
One thing I've found is that the quality, resolution and playback is better via a direct site such as I've posted above, than an "embedded" video added to a club website.
Already sorted this one out , issue was with the race calendar entry being passed to the FRA before the race record was broken last year. The same will happen with the womens record for next year unless somebody informs the FRA.
Suppose I could tell them on here...
FRA, by the way the womens record was broken this year by V. Wilkinson in 38:46, 2009.
Parts 2 & 3 of the Harriers Vs Cyclist video's found here
Can anyone give me more details of the exact race route? I'm sure this race must have been mentioned many times on the forum, but my searches are unsuccessful. What am I doing wrong?
Aha, Google just found this for me
http://forums.cyclingweekly.co.uk/sh...16/an/0/page/0
by a certain Richard Thackeray. But the map provided doesn't cover the whole race - unless there is a way of navigating the map which I don't know.
Up the hill, through the field, up to Baildon, round Baildon, head back the way you came.
I was hoping to disconnect some of my lesser spotted friends from the pink handcuffs to ride bikes against me in this but it's for next year now. Looks good fun though.
What a fantastic event this is!
Biked last couple of years, was going to run it this year (no bike = no car necessary = train = post race ales), but have done my ankle in so hoping for a swift recovery in time.
Well, that's the map that was attached to a thread on the Bingley Harriers forum.
I've ridden it twice (07 & 08), but ran it last year.
Due to making the mistake of using the Mountain-Bike, instead of the 'cross-bike', the portage sections were grim.
I was also quicker on foot! (by about 6 minutes!), & will be running again this year too!

[QUOTE=RichardAThackeray;362885]Well, that's the map that was attached to a thread on the Bingley Harriers forum. /QUOTE
Thanks to Richard and Dominion - it was my map reading (un)skills at fault. Lucky I'm not contemplating running something more complicated.
Pleased to help:D
If you do get there, come & say "Hello". although I may be wearing my new club-colours, not one of my (tried & trusted) 'Featherstone Road Club' jerseys
As seen here; http://forum.fellrunner.org.uk/showt...699#post320699
I say 'may be wearing......' as I joined http://www.ackworthroadrunnersandac.co.uk/ on Thursday evening, after the club-run)
Brilliant picture! (Rather you than me, though.) I'm probably being over-ambitious as usual in thinking of HvC for this year, but if I should make it I'll keep a look out for you, as well as for those death-dealing cyclists. However, a back view would certainly be more useful.
Go on then, who will I see there next Saturday afternoon??
http://www.bingleyharriers.co.uk/htm...clists/hvc.htm
£5.00 entry (BCF levy if cycling + £1.00)
For those 'not in the know'
It starts at 14:00
Signing on/start location;
'Fishermans Inn' (go down the tow-path opposite)
Dowley Gap
Bingley
BD16 1TS (for checking on 'Multi-Map'/sat-nav, etc....)
OS ref; SE117384
Few details/course-map here;
http://www.bingleyharriers.org.uk/fo....php?f=4&t=315
I rode it in 2007/2008, & ran it last year, & intend to be on foot again next weekend - 6 minutes quicker on foot:o
pretty sure i will be there, allowing for Mrs Superfly double booking us!
not done it before and will be running.
Sorry about starting the new thread (with my words now added to the existing one), but I did search for a thread, but the search function wasn't throwing one up
Just re-reading this thread
Clive..
Can I take it this was you back at that race??

(I'm behind you in the blue jersey, with yellow sleeves)
I'm a bit annoyed about this one now:angry:
I asked for the days holiday over 2 months ago (& I'm damned sure it was granted, but can't find my counterfoil)
As of the other Monday (1st), it hadn't been put in 'the book', so filled out another request.
When I looked on my last working day (Friday 12th), it's still not showing - time for some 'ass-kicking' tomorrow when I return after this 'long weekend'
I might end up having to try & swap shifts & leaving a couple of hours early
Just to ensure everybody knows the route the official map used on the day has been attached.
This is a fantastic event (I would say that I'm organising it :o) which this year will see both the former World Triathlon Champion, and one of GB’s best hopes for 2012 gold, Alistair Brownlee and Rob Jebb, the current and eight times winner of the Three Peaks cyclo-cross race and former Sky-Runner World Series champion. The head-to-head makes it a race not to miss.
Even if you can't run / ride come for a watch if you’re in the area.

I fancy this one. I can't get onto the Bingley website for some reason - what time is the registration, and is there anywhere to leave bags or whatever?
Come on! get a grip :)
details
you can leave stuff in the pub
Don't you know anyone who's going who may leave your stuff in their car??
Registration probably starts about 13:00 - 13:15?, along the tow-path, on opposite side of bridge from 'Fishermans' (but same side of canal, if you follow) - but just look for the bunch stood about on the towpath.
Look for John ('Mr Three Peaks Cyclo-Cross') Rawnsley sitting there, in his silver VW Passat (if he's still got it) signing-on is by his car
Race starts at 14:00
Cheers Brett. Were you out headtorching last night? Hopefully I'll be joining in again next wednesday, unless you're all off somewhere exotic again...
We were!
See you next Wed
rumour has it they are both riding....(Brownlee and Jebb)
