Another cracking race courtesy of Des Gibbons. First finish in the top third for me despite dying on that brutal second climb!
Yeah well done dan ,loads of pennine vests out there thisEvening amongst the flying ants and gnats! Shame I couldn't run but Enjoyed marshalling and looking forward to des,s next race ,big well done To pennine prizewinners too!!
Great race, thought I was going to konk out on the second climb, but managed to hang in there.
Good effort by the locals, and thanks to Des for the organisation.
Got to say, I loved all the jumping over gates, made for an excellent race.
if you're bored at work, or there is nothing to watch on the tele, have a quick scan of the now traditional post wednesday night run blog thing

I really enjoyed this race last night and well worth the effort of the drive over from Nottingham, although i think one of the women came up from Reading? A really good open route up and across wonderful moorland and generally all runnable. 10th place too so pleased to make the journey. I see there were other forumites there too, wish I'd been more upstanding and made your aquaintence. Thanks to Des and the other organisers for a great night out.
Simon
I only noticed late, hence the late post :o
My thoughts on a cracking race, for your perusal.
Cheers ba-ba. I think that's the best race report of one of my races for ages :) . Good finish - I certainly couldn't catch you down the bilberry terraces. Nice race Des.
Who was taking photos at the summit? I'd like to be able to tell my grandkids that was me ahead of Gwyn. ;)
Great race last night, I really enjoyed it, better than some Championship races. By the way BaBa some old guys can and do read.
Good blog Baba, thanks for the link to the stats as well, Im always intrigued to see just where the guys up the field are pulling away from me...
I was taking photos at Wormstones (as well as being eaten by the midges) and they can be found here:

A good race to watch but I am not sure the photos show quite how humid the conditions were last night. A couple of good reports on the blogs - thanks for those.
Thanks Des, Steve, Geoff and all the marshalls, really enjoyed it - it's great to get racing again. Like Steve McQueen said: "Racing is life. Everything else is is just waiting." haha
No worries Steve. I half thought thats what you were there to do... catch people who overshoot the wall. I wasnt expecting the fence thing to be so slack and it was a bit of a shock to not be supported by anything as I plunged into a bit of an unexpected void.
Whats that saying... "look before you leap"?
Great, thanks Shaun. I can retire now: https://picasaweb.google.com/ShaunP0...18742847282738 :)
Thanks to Des & Steve the Results are up at http://www.cs.man.ac.uk/~temples/hc/
Correction needed on results - the winners name is Gwyn, cheers!
I'll be north of the snake running a nav course, I'll be watching if the clag isn't down.
Registration for this year's Wormstones race on Weds 12th June has been moved to The Beehive on Hague Street, Glossop.
Andy

Thanks Des.
First time out at Wormstones for me and what a fantastic little race it is! Both my better half and I really enjoyed it and next year we'll try and drag a few more over from Saddleworth.
Thanks Des and your team of helpers!
First time out at Wormstones for me also. Short and frantic by comparision to my usual race choice, but a really great route and race none the less.
Very many thanks to everyone inviolved in the organisation.
Nice write up Tim. I was watching your dual with Tony (Pennine) all the way down. Your finely honed vaulting skills made life very hard for him! Nice work. When you passed me, I couldn't quite keep in touch. I held you once on the more level stuff but could make no inroads. Pleased with 8th though. A great evening.
Stefan.
Tim you were going well.
First time for me also on this. After a fast start along the road and down the track the fun and games began, which started with a drop off a grassy precipice followed by a lot of climbing. It's not called an AS for nothing. How nice of the drizzle to stop, the clouds to part and the sun to come out just as the race began. Thanks Des and helpers for a brilliant evening.
What a great little race. Was a bit of a last minute decision for me but so glad I did it.I had an ace fall too at the start on that sharp grass drop at the end of the road, did anyone witness it?
Pictures just uploaded.
Official results are up: http://fellrunner.org.uk/results.php?id=1958
can't believe I haven't done this since I started this thread back in 2007! :o
will put that right this Wednesday at 7:15pm... :D
What is the route this year - the one that descends via the shooting cabin or the longer route over the Nab?
Thanks.
Sad to say I won't be able to make it this year. Have a good one all. It's a lung burner.
