or in the FRA Handbook published for members each December/January.
Hope you get there and above all enjoy yourself. :)
Last year I paid on day . Can't imagine it will get more than 250 people their .
I'm trying to set myself a target time based on other people's performances, but it's tricky if the course keeps changing. I note that for this year's race "course has reverted back to pre-FMD route so original records stand".
So which years used this route? I know FMD was 2001, so it should be 1998, 1999 and 2000. But it also looks like 2006 and 2007 had similar finish times to these years. Any ideas?
Last year was a bit longer as they were making silage in the fields near the start/finish, so we took a longer route to/from the stile on Lingmell Nose.
I'm driving over on the day for this. Is there plenty of spaces in the NT car park?
I see the entry list has been updated on the cfra site. It also says on my race info that a limited number of runners can enter on the day (for an extra £1). See you all there. :)

:)
Great photos Stevio. Photos are much better than video - it looks like I was descending quite quickly and not slowly stumbling down the mountain as was the case.
I think I need more practice on real mountains before I try this one again.
BTW, nice one Fleeter on being Prince of the Mountains.
great photos there from a real tough race
Noticed that it's on the 25th of September, will probably do the race. Can someone fill me in on what the route is etc?
Also, as I've not raced on the Fells in a long time, can someone remind me what I need to carry with me please?
Cheers
Here we go again, GM

I haven't done that route, but Scafell Pike is steep, rocky and slippery in the wet.
That says I don't need to carry anything unless the organiser tells me to, is that correct?
GM, IIRC, the route goes up Lingmell Nose ( steep & grassy ) across Lingmell Col then gets rocky & slippy on the final pull up to Scafell Pike; turn and retrace.
Best take everything ( cag, leggings, hat, gloves, map, whistle & food ) in case the RO tells you to carry it:D
It's an AS race. It means you take all the kit to the start and find out how much of it you have to carry, if any.
Last year they insisted that you carry full kit. Most people did.
If you've not got a good sense of direction (like I haven't) it's worth getting behind a local or at least someone who knows where they're going for the very top. I got dropped by the runners in front of me last year and spent about 20 seconds wandering about at the top trying to pick which route to run down. It's not very intuitive, especially if it's misty.
Ok, cool, I've done the Lingmell Dash before, I know the area pretty well and I've got an awesome sense of direction. I have all the kit and I know what I need to take to not get DQ'd, so all is good.
Thanks.
Who do you think I am? I thought my identity on here was a closely-guarded secret, known only by a handful on here? I don't think I've done anything of note in 4 years, and nothing that sands out on the Fells in 13 years, so I suspect you think I'm someone else!
Haven't got a clue. We just need clued up runners with local knowledge, all the kit and an awesome sense of direction.
And they say Generation Y doesn't do irony...
Right, I see your point! I did wonder if that's what you meant, but I don't think you made the irony obvious enough!
Yes, subtle irony is always more awkward, especially on' tinternet.
Unfortunately, yes.

Just wondering where I can find a route map of this race, plus any route photos and pictures of this race. Cheers
Before The Grump and/or Wharfeego comes along you could try this thread first... http://forum.fellrunner.org.uk/showt...t-Scafell-Pike its even on this same 'races' page!!
It would seem this can be entered on the day:
" The race is pre-entry. The closing date is two weeks before the race although a limited number of entries on the day can be taken for an extra £1 "
