will be making the trip up from scouse land, first race of the year cant wait :)
Done this for the last three years as it's one of my fave local races. Throughly peeved that a prolonged bout of man-flu means I can't have a crack at beating my PB. Conditions should be set for a fast one as it's meant to be very cold and windless. See you all as I'll be helping out somewhere along the course.
...not really, it's not too rough - you pretty much follow the line of a wall up before heading off for the top - the toughest aspect of the race are the peaty mounds which can swallow you up to your ankles, but the ground frost and lack of recent rain should mean that it's not as heavy going as e.g. last year. Also it was very windy and running against that was hard work last year. Again, that shouldn't be an issue tomorrow.
As 8 miles will nbe my longest run for months I will follow behind you mudlugger if thats ok, what cstume will you be wearing?
he is the missing o in that last comment, you will have to delete the extra letters yourselves
Im having an outing for this one-see you there.
Done this one for the last couple of years, its a good little race. Can't make it this year cos I'm still recovering from man flu.
Suprised to see Brummy John interested in this, didnt think the boys in black ventured out of the borough of Rochdale these days:rolleyes:
enjoyed this, lack of fitness showed and my ankles hurt a lot so I don't think the big come back will be just yet, didn't see anyone else though, were you all hiding again?
Saw you at start and you were already back when I finished, just got my breath back and you'd gone. Did you have a multicoloured hat on?
It was hard on the ankles with all that ice and frozen mud. Also a tricky finish with all the loose rocks eh. What a nice route, some stunning scenery.
Think I managed just under 1:15 which is good for me so I'm chuffed.
I suspect that was me, there was only 2 Kcac runners out and the other one wore a cag over his vest. Must be slowing up if I was still around when you finsihed:)
See you on monday at Ilkley moor race, less you are doing the cyclocross at Tod tomorrow.
I was there as well as the sole Valley Strider representative. I think I know who you are now AS. Will come say hi on Monday evening.
Was a bit brutal underfoot today! Far too hard for fell shoes and injured foot and my lack of actual training meant an under par performance.
Suppose its good to get the shockers out the way early on in the year?
Loved this though was a hard course straight after the Auld lang Syne. I thought that it would be easier with all the mud frozen hard but that just created other problems - I was like Bambi with brand new legs unable to stay upright!
Did it in 1hr 17mins which was okay - just need to work on that down hill on rocky, loose terrain to get better at this one.
Good race - very well organised - thanks Allan!!
I think we must be twins seperated at birth given we have the same injury issues, I now have stabbing pains up my ankles when I walk, it was fun taking the dogs out just now.
I intend to be there on monday see how it goes, am cyclo crossing tommorrow, this is part of my plan to gently ease back into racing and training after 5 low milege and minimal racing in order to cure my injuries
 Gutted, found out this morning that there is a reservoir called Ogden reservoir just outside of Blackburn, unforunately i discovered this because i spent most of this morning driving round it trying to find the fell race, hence my no show at the race at ogden reservoir, just off from the A629, gutted, gutted , gutted
Thanks for all the positive comments folks... Glad you enjoyed the race.
Judging by the conversations overheard near the finish area, lots of you did.
Scouse_fellrunner, the grid reference is in the calendar entry which is also on the homepage of this website. Sorry you didn't make it :(
Brummy John, I don't sell the food at the pub or set the prices. You all had the choice friend. (Hope that comment won't put anyone off coming in future!!) :D:D
Anyway, cheers everyone and Happy New Year.
Here are the first three results m/f to be going on with.

oooops, maybe I've lost the plot, apols, meant your matehttp://forum.fellrunner.org.uk/images/icons/icon9.gif
I know its only a couple of days but just wondered when results are expected, end of week, next week?
Hi Folks
Just so you know, my GPS tracked the race as 8.25 miles and 1269 ft of ascent.
Thanks
Mary
Patience...!
I remember a time when the results for some races were sent out along with the entry forms for the following years' event !!

Nice one Stringman, easy for us to save in preferred format by cutting and pasting into word etc. Cheers.
well done to those who ran, was wanting to do this one but had the man flu, meh!
Yeah well done to all. After saying i was definately going to be there, i ended up in hospital with infection in 3 of my organs!!!
And to think,on the morning of the race i was still considering going and just plodding around!
First sensible decision ive made in ages.:D
