Yes the road from Tideswell / hucklow is clear. The road works are only if you are coming in from the hope valley, but they are not a problem either just a few mins delay due to temp traffic lights

What a good event it was today! Weather good, conditions underfoot good, loads of pbs as a result. 70 minutes faster than my only previous run (3 years ago).
Good to run with you (eventually), it kept me goiing at a good pace in the second half. Great day out in the end. Thanks to all the marshalls.
That's brilliant Andy, very well done! It was my first time and I really enjoyed it, it's a stunning route. It took me a while to get going but I hooked up with some friendly folk and things picked up after that. It was lovely and cool early on but I drank loads and sweated buckets.Quote:

Great organisation once again, apparent that the D&W (who I love!) still have an input, but Bradda Dads are great too! A little disappointing to see that all the 'hanging out of trees over rivers' controls got tried to a fence post - they were fun! I'm not a fast runner, but used to gain places on the route from small nav misfortunes :)
I've not raced solo for 11 months, LToB ALWAYS brings me back :)
Had a few issues with bogey runners - one guy said to me through Castleton that he was glad he was following the right person (me) - got told I would not tolerate being trailed and to feck off. He got lost and finished behind me. I perhaps may have been a little more compassionate if he'd had his map out thumping it, and not been so brazen!
I got people waiting for me at styles....it happens alot and really pisses me off. Glad to see 75% of the bogeys go wrong! I had to actually say on many occasions (as thouse tied there shoes laces at path junctions if they were waiting for me ...more expletives....not a happy bunny!
I stopped racing for a bit as this happened often, it spoils MY race, that I have either spent the time recci'ng, or I god forbid I have actually learnt to nav though experience!
If you think you can wing it round a route by following, just really do bugger off! I only get to run outside once a week, don't spoil my fun, especially when you run past me once I've guided you through the route!

I know what you mean Helen, had this happen a few weeks ago on a race, those around me would have missed a self clip and got lost numerous times if they hadn't followed me. Very annoying as they had simply downloaded the route onto their watches and were relying on that completely, I might go down your route of telling them where to go (no pun intended, but actually quite a good one!) next time rather than just stewing over it and chunnering to myself.
Sounds like a great event, may give it a go next year.
Can understand why you're so peed off Helen.Although I only did the 1/2,I had no-one near me the whole race,so was glad I had reccied it.Nevertheless,it was pretty straightforward,so I'm surprised anyone with any nav skills couldn't get themselves round without blindly following.Mind you,a lost soul from the Long did try to follow me after going wrong quite early on,but he soon dropped off,so am not sure what happened to him.
Found it a great event.Couldn't fault the cost,the organisation,the route,the check point folk,the venue,etc..
Hopefully,next year there won't be a clash with the English Champs,which I think may've affected the 1/2 especially.
Helen I thought I was competitive but I do feel compelled to call people back on route if I see them going wrong. Someone overtook me just before the secret trods up through the bracken past the top of the woods and carried on ahead, missing the right turn-off. I called him back and our paths intercepted in the undergrowth. I didn't hear a word of thanks from him - not even a response when I spoke to him; downright ungrateful and just plain rude is what I call it. I might follow your example in future.

I was supporting a friend yesterday with his wife and we were really impressed with the organisation and the friendliness of BraddaDads. Helen, we saw you at Burbage North, the bridge by the river and at the end. Loved your description of how you felt :). You mentioned your annoyance there too of those tagging on. I'd be really mad too and would give the response you did :mad:. Mind you the only one I'd have following me is the sweep up chap! I've set a goal to do the half tour next year :thumbup: Great day, well done to all. I've bought the map and ill be out on with it and my compass many times before next year.
