YAWN! Hate these early mornings! Grumble... Need coffeeeee
Hope everyone's having fun out there. Has the snow arrived yet? There's plenty in the Dales :)
None just south of Skipton. Can see to Boulsworth Hill and there's none there either. A bit nippy though.
Good to see half the forum out for a run round the Hobble
Don't envy you lot, it's a bit grim out there...
Thanks to organisers and helpers for all your efforts today. Really appreciated, especially the good people at the food stations.....cheers.
Absolutely loved it, although it was too darn runny and insufficiently walky ;). Harry loved it too - his first ultra :)
How did you do Tindersticks? You and Lynne were going strong as you disappeared into the distance! I caught my friend Jackie up just after Long Causeway and we ran together as her husband had to pack in. I think we just snook in under 6 hours so I'm really pleased. Thanks Brett and all your helpers for another brilliant Hobble.
Great day out, weather wasn't too bad in the end. Thanks to all those who helped organise this event, we had a terrific day :)
Hiya Linda, I think we came in at about 5.35hr. Lynne was so strong at the end and I was doing my best to hang in. Well done Linda on the sub 6, brilliant.
Excellent time you two! So we'll be seeing you at some more ultras in the near future??
Thanks Linda, I think you just might, we are in training for old county tops.
Had a great day at my first ultra, loved the route. Thanks to the organiser and all the hardy marshalls. 6hr 18 min for me and wasted a bit of time taking photographs!
Same.I loved it too although the last 12 were much harder, hillier, colder- had to dig deep to keep going. Lost my map at cp1 and was terrified i would get lost so had to keep up with and follow others-think I followed you for a bit mountain goatess-were you in a green jacket?? Thanks!!! Very pleased to finish just under 6.30. Thanks to Brett for late entry and all the wonderful marshalls, helpers and kids selling cakes.First ever ultra in the bag whoop whoop
Well done MG, that's a brilliant time. 32 miles is a very long way. Hope you get your Garmin back but I'm sure you will.
Hi Craig, regarding route choice we just followed the lads in front, call it extra training. Enjoyed the event and it was a first for me to be running whilst eating hotdogs and doughnuts. How about yourself?
Thanks Linda, wasn't sure what a 'good' time is but I guess just doing it is good! You did better than good though, excellent work for a sub 6, well done you! :)
I got my Garmin back (it was in my bag all along....must have done a man search the first 3 times i looked for it!)
Must have been a bad day for losing Garmins: Mark Robinson (Protodoc) just called me from work - yes, on a Sunday - and asked me to post here, turns out he left his Garmin eTrex 30 at the school afterwards, he was sitting up near the registration desks. If anyone finds it could they PM either me or him directly? Ta.
Well, now I have done the Haworth Hobble, I am very proud of myself! The route looked a little daunting on Google Maps, but now I have done it what a great feeling.
Many thanks to all the marshalls along the route, and all the helpers at the start and finish, also.
Myself and my running partner cycled to Haworth from Leeds but only made it as far as Bingley on the way back, wisely modifying our plan in light of worsening weather conditions. The Midland Hotel, closest to the railway station, had radiators and beer!
We were joined by Meg who met us there and she had a great run, also.
That sleet in a stiff breeze after the last CP was a blizzard then was it?
I hadn't realised that I'd been in so many blizzards before.
The weather was bad enough to make it feel heroic but not bad enough for serious suffering or even to put long trousers on.
Another great day out on a super course.
The forecast wasn't that far out - we certainly had blizzards in Swaledale!

Stolly and Merrysteve it was good to see you yesterday, i'm still cold!
Thanks for standing out at mankinholes - and big thanks for the ibuprofen- once they had kicked iin my race started again and I enjoyed myself! Mark L - I have to agree - the weather was not as bad as I had feared from the forecast and i was never seriously cold- just a bit atmospheric over the last tops.
I had to dig deep to keep going over Top o't' Stairs. Weather looked grim, but really wasn't too bad was it? I had to take my waterproof off at Widdop as I was too hot, & it never went back on again. Bad patch from Mankinholes to Heptonstall, then I got motoring again. Until the last bit from the reservoir & up the road & over Penistone Hill - I always struggle on that last bit. Good to chat to Karen, Mrs Stagger, Daz, MOUNTAIN MAN. Sorry I wasn't very communicative at the end - I was totally out of it! 18 minutes slower than last year (I made it 5:46), but I'm happy enough with that.
Well not a fun day at the office for me - body and mind not really in the right place - but I finished it and I guess its all miles in the bag!
Nice route though - shame the views were hidden.
Charity cake stand at the finish - awesome!
Good job the Haworth Hobble starts from Haworth, then.
There are a number of stock responses to an inaccurate weather forecast, and yours is a standard - "the weather forecast was accurate for somewhere else." It's usually that, or "the blizzard/deluge/hurricane/sub-zreo temperatures came 12 hours later."
I'm just glad that I ignored the forecast and took gear appropriate for the conditions at the start and the possiblity that it might get worse/better.
"Blizzards forecast for Saturday" indeed! ;)
First Hobble and first long distance event for me and I loved it! Simply wanted to get round and use it as a learning experience but on reflection was perhaps overly cautious so slightly disappointed with 6:36 but on the other hand I've set a marker, learnt a lot and wil be back for more!
Well done to everyone out there yesterday and a big thanks to all the organisers and marshalls
